I don't understand how you can fall so low with the home games in a 1 year. What's worse the same is in women. No progress is visible. What good is it that Vinatzer has good moments if he doesn't finish more than half of his runs? I don't expect another Tomba, Rocca or Moelgg but for God's sake let there be at least a solid group of 4-5 skiers who will probably qualify for the 2nd run and fight for the podium from time to time. In my opinion, it was long overdue to change the team in technical competitions: since 2022, there has been no progress in slalom, and in the women's giant slalom, the experienced Brignone and sometimes Bassino are still saving our asses.

Great Britain, Bulgaria and Croatia are already better than us, so maybe we should get coaches from those countries, since we ourselves have not been able to train 1 athlete to the top group in slalom for several years.

Vinatzer had the potential to be a big star. Some years ago I expected him to become a constant favourite for slalom podiums and wins. But he is just too big of a loose canon and barely makes any good runs, without mistakes.

The guy is almost 25 years old and for several years he has not been able to finish 2 slaloms in a row. I am tired of reading about his potential. With his riding style he is not suitable for slaloms. He has made progress in the giant slalom and regularly finishes there, but not enough to stand on the podium. The problem is that Italy - an Alpine country with the Olympics in Cortina in 2026 - has no one else. When was the last time an Italian stood on the podium in a technical competition apart from Vinatzer's 3rd place in 2020? No one. We are at a lower level than Great Britain or Croatia.

The Italian men's and women's slalom staff should simply be fired. It's getting worse and worse every year, except that now it's too late. In 1 year we have the Olympics and it will be the embarrassment of the century. If Juventus Turin were in the relegation zone the decision would probably be quick, right?

Italian slalom is depressing???

Nah… Polish alpine skiing is depressing!!! But if you put all the money on the niche sport like ski jumping what can you expect ?

I mean after Małysz it was a good idea to focus on ski jump here . We got all these Stoch golds and team medals as well

but why 99% efforts on jumping ? 80% would be enough

no chance for downhill success here but why we can’t have a top 10 rider in a slalom???

I obviously know alpine is much more competitive than jumping ? So it is much easier to medal here. But why totally give up on alpine???
