Ok, but for example, ask someone from Brazil what they know about hockey... The same goes for Iran, Egypt, Argentina etc., and everyone knows football...

Fair enough.

Doesn’t really help that to watch hockey, the streaming isn’t very accessible outside of North America.

I love both sports almost equally, but naturally I might be a little bias being Canadian and having played/watched it as a little kid, so I really shouldn’t be the one to argue a case for it but… :p

How did we end up talking about hockey in a volleyball thread?

It started with my question to Kosice, that hockey would still be number 1 team sport in their country if football was at a higher level there: for example, at the level of the Netherlands or Belgium.

Well, to be fair, it's a sport outside our reality. Most Brazilians aren't familiar with hockey, not even in its summer versions (field and indoor). But during the Winter Olympics, curling usually enjoys greater success. :p

In Italy we only became a NT team for Top 10-12 on the world in this sport thanks to players from the USA and Canada of Italian descent – in the early 1990s. In that time our league had 8-10 clubs? Currently, there are maybe 2-3 professional clubs, which play in a international league with Austrian teams, because there's no point in creating a league for 2-3 good clubs:lol:

tbh, hockey streams are really accessible around the world

actually, nhl.tv is the cheapest OTT service among the 4 big North American sports

and there's also a lot of free stuff on youtube

i am nostalgic of the past :) in all sports so thats why i think 1996 was the greatest

I didn't watch that match, as I was still living in Poland and I don't think there was even a broadcast, or even if there was, I probably didn't even know:lol:(Poland was weak in the sport back then, and interest was low and I was only 9 years old ). In 1998, I remember the World Champ. final: Italy vs. Yugoslavia- the broadcast was replay several hours later, but there was no internet, so I didn't know the result – only teletext was available back then. It was the last tournament in the old 15-point system and points were scored only on your own serve (does`t libero position etc.).

Because it wasn't the London 2012 tests that condemned them, but the 2013 Russian League tests. From what I understood, that was it.

Era just before the coming of first Rezende :)

    • It's hard to believe it was still in this calendar year
    • In last year, we were were happy with Brignone's wins, and today we're excite that della Mea is in the top 10... It's hard to imagine a bigger fall... And Goggia should give up on the giant slalom and focus on the speed events – Vonn isn't wasting time on the giant slalom, but is training for downhill and SG. Goggia last one finished on the podium in the giant slalom in march 2018, and she has no any chance of winning an Olympic medal at the regular competition. It's a waste of time and energy to finish 8th or 9th and risk injury. And we have to accept that without Brignone, we have no chance of winning a medal in the giant slalom in Cortina, and that's it.
    • yeah, just like Anna Trocker earlier Today   I think this is the best way to blow them    they're not ready for the world cup stage yet, but we're so bad right now that our coaches are digging deep
    • Some surprises and fun results so far at this year's Worlds. Like a few minutes ago, when  Harrysson made the 1/8 with another very good performance. Now he plays Jonny Clayton, who this afternoon made a stellar performance in a tough battle with Zonneveld. I don't see an easy match for Clayton, even though on paper he would have wished such an opponent for a 1/8 before the tournament.   Also i'm delighted that my fav Gary Anderson seems to be in good form, though at his age, he is prone to sudden bad matches at any time.
