Women's Volleyball FIVB World Championship 2025

I can say that was one of the most entertaining volleyball match I ever seen. probably only 2nd to 2012 men's Olympic final. (I'm sure there are lots of other great matches but only this came to mind) and Gabi's performance today was one of the best ever. maybe THE best ever.

Italy almost had no plan to play under pressure, I mean no plan B because they never needed that in past 2 summers. when you win for a very long time, you usually lose when it hurts the most. hopefully they learn from this and play better tomorrow.

I hope Brazilian fans don't be too hard on Julia Bergmann. that was sad watching her cry after the match.

btw I know about injuries on both sides (Ana Cristina, Degradi etc) but can someone tell me why C. Bosetti is not with Italy anymore ? and Carol (the middle blocker) for Brazil. retired from the NT? injured? not good enough anymore ?

Carol wants to enjoy some time with her wife. However, there are rumors that it was out of anger at the coach who, at the beginning of the season, said players couldn't choose between joining the national team or not, and that there might not be a place for them in the future. But I don't think she was necessary; Kudiess and Diana performed very well this year, and we still have two excellent middle blockers on the bench.

About Julia Bergmann... I hope she stays away from social media, and I hope the coaching staff knows how to help her. Brazilians are furious, and some may be overreacting.

Epic, epic match  I think everyone knew this was going to be the real final before the final. Italy's winning streak continues, but it was by the skin of their teeth.

When are Brazil building a statue of Gabi? This woman is just unbelievably amazing.

The VNL final against Brazil in July was also difficult. Bosetti is out because she's had a very poor season and is limited by her physical condition: she is only 180 cm heigh. We need to look to the future and find a second OH to pair with Sylla. Nervini and Giovannini are a bit weak in attack. Either we get Pietrini back, or we'll have a serious problem in the coming years. Now, however, we need to rest 100% and win that gold tomorrow. The rest of the problems will have to be solved next season.

If we play vs Turkey tomorrow, like today, and don't stop Vargas, we'll lose. We're not in great form here, and our opponent is playing their best play of the season, and there are no weaknesses in the squad: injuries, withdrawals, etc. If Pietrini were 100% here, I'd be more at ease...

Don't exaggerate, Brazil is not a weak opponent. Trust me, if you play at least like you did today, you'll destroy Turkey.

Overall, it was a normal result, but one that leaves me very excited.

I think we can expect good things from this team until Los Angeles. Our weak spot, opposites Rosamaria and Kisy, had a very solid tournament.

Now, less than 24 hours after a 3-2 loss, we have to play a bronze medal match.

Brazil has always been our toughest match in the 21st century; even Russia wasn't that bad. Without Antropova's come to play, it would have been like 2022. However, the problem is that we have two OHs at 184/185cm height (OK, Sylla is a more jumper, like Cubans receny, and makes up for it), but Nervini and Giovannini can't handle matches like today. If we don't get Pietrini back or someone just under 190 cm in that position, we'll have a big problem until 2028.
