Team GB Daily: Day 12

Just realised I answered yes instead of two for the diving question. That’s what I get for doing it half asleep!! Feel free to disregard my answer given event now already underway.

Sure this might have been discussed yesterday but really impressed by a 5th place finish for Fincham-Dukes yesterday in the long jump. He’s not funded, works full time and is back to work on Friday!

An excellent result for him. Best field result for a GB athlete this games surely. Kerr and hopefully Hudson - Smith might be only GB men better than him. Better than any GB man in the field in Tokyo as well.

And yet all he did was just be reasonably consistent with everything else he’s done all year.

Decent flying lap qualification from both Brits, Carlin 5th and Turnbull 7th.

A long way and a lot of races to go but if everything were to go by seeding, they would avoid the two Dutchmen in the QFs (they would be against the two Aussies I think).

Obviously that would be assuming they got that far, which is far from certain.

It was pretty good but the BBC commentators did struggle to hide their disappointment at Carlin’s time. Their were much more positive about Turnbull.

On top of that they have a terrible schedule in the CL. In their case qualifying for the play-offs would be a success in this season but I'm not sure how many points they will need to do that. Actually they chave 8 points.
