Fourth going into the last round in the jumping. Need a clear round and a bit of luck.

You know what will happening. Time penalty will leave us 4th. I’m turning off TV and going to go to pub

That would have been an improvement on what actually happened.

A clear round would, of course, have won us a medal.

On the bright side, it's boxing up next...

The British win again. How the hell  do they do it? 7th of 9 in the final is pretty shite.

They have tradition on their side and been there and done it all before. Ireland has a significant monkey on the back in that they’ve never won a medal in team equestrian before and only won medal in total over the years. Once a breakthrough is made you’d be surprised how many successes follow but we have yet to make that breakthrough and it’s stifling. The shackles are off for the other nations. That’s my take on it anyway.

Yeah it really reminds me a lot of the GAA where the traditional teams often find a way to win, and often get the benefit of decisions at crucial moments, to actually win they need to be a lot better to scrape out a victory. Then the fact the Olympics only comes around once every 4 years, it gets magnified. I wasn't confident on O'Connor, he was selected for his vast experience obviously, but it appears he doesn't have as good a horse as at previous Olympics. Hopefully Coyle can do something in the individual but it will be extremely difficult and we rarely seem to get the rub of the green in these things

I think we just bottle it. We just dont get enough clear rounds in the big competitions. Some of the other competitors seemed to soar over tbe fences with a foot to spare.

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
    • Which I guess is part of why unfortunately 'our' first wild card attempt of the season was rejected last week
