BBC reporting that Jennifer Gadirova has sustained ACL injury

Jennifer Gadirova: Great British gymnast suffers ACL injury - BBC Sport

She missed pretty much all of last year through injury if I recall.

Still better for it to happen at the start of the Olympic cycle rather than towards the sharp end.

In addition, it looks like Courtney Tulloch, Ruby Evans and Charlotte Booth all picked up injuries at the World cup event in Cottbus

Quick update on last week's World Challenge Cup Event in Paris

Abigail Martin qualified in second place for women's vault final with 14.049 (13.933/13.766). Martin actually tied with :GER Karina Schoenmaier. On Floor, Martin scored 13.000 to take the last place in the final.

In the Vault final, Martin put in flawless performance to take Gold with 14.016 (13.866/13.766) with 0.2 bonus. She finished ahead of Schoenmaier who carried a 0.1 penalty to finish on 14.000. In the floor final, she improved to 13.166 but was only good enough for 6th.

Jess Gadirova returned to international competition with a 13.100 in Uneven Bars to qualify in 7th for final. Her Balance Beam routine scored 11.966 for 19th in qualifying.

In the Uneven Bars final, she improved her score to 13.2000 to finish in 5th.

Ruby Evans scores 12.166 to finish 16th in Uneven Bars qualifying and 10.366 for 47th in the Balance Beam. On Floor, she was the 2nd highest qualifier with 13.633. Unfortunately, she couldn't replicate the score in the final - scoring just 12.800 to finish 7th.

On the men's side....

Joe Fraser was the second highest qualifier on Rings with 14.133 and second highest qualifier on Parallel Bars with 14.500.  He secured trio of final spots with 14.433 for the Horizontal Bar.

He emerged from the finals with two medals. A bronze from the Rings after scoring 14.200 was followed by Gold on Parallel Bars with 14.533. He couldn't secure the trio of podium spots as he finished down in 7th place in Horizontal Bar with 13.433.

Cameron Lynn qualified for the Floor final in 7th place with 13.333. He followed that with a 13.300 on Pommel for 18th and 12.400 on Horizontal Bar for 22nd.

In the final, he maintained his score - achieving 13.366 to finish 6th overall.

Alexander Yolshin-Cash qualified in 5th place for final of Pommel with score of 14.166. He went on to score 12.566 in Parallel Bars qualifying.

In the final, he improved his score to 14.433 but this was only enough to finish 5th overall.

Remell Robinson-Bailey scored 11.833 in Floor qualifying and 11.666 on Rings. On  vault, he was 18th with score of 12.033 (13.000/11.066)

Individual Finalists from World Champs:

Jake Jarman is the top qualifier for the floor final. Luke Whitehouse joins him in 8th place.

Alexander Yolshin-Cash is through to the pommel final in 7th place.

Harry Hepworth will go in the rings final as 6th placed qualifier. Courtney Tulloch is first reserve.

Jake Jarman is 3rd reserve for vault final - so very unlikely he'll be defending his title unless something goes disastrously wrong.

Joe Fraser is 2nd highest qualifier in the horizontal bar.

Interesting development with Max Whitlock trying to qualify for Los Angeles but surely it's going to be difficult to muscle his way back on to the team.

Barring injury, Jake Jarman is a shoo in - probably targeting individual glory in both floor and vault. He's also likely to be in the all-around. So too is Joe Fraser.

Likewise, I would say Harry Hepworth and Luke Whitehouse will both make the trip (if healthy) as they could also challenge for individual medals.

That leaves the last place between Whitlock, Tulloch, Hall and Yolshin-Cash

Wth Hepwort's worth on rings, I think tulloch is no longer a required get out of jail free card. Equally, GBR are going through an unusual moment of being a bit weak on pommel. finally, if Whitlock can get himself into anything like the 2020 zone and do three clean routines, he remains a major medal chance, and boosts the team medal chances. Hall was a fabulous swiss army knife of a gymnast, but again the trio of Jarman, Hepworth and Fraser probably cover your AA/Swiss army knife needs. Haven't seen enough of Yolshin-Cash yet to really draw conclusions.

I'd say Jarmin, Hepworth, Whitehouse, Fraser and a.n. other is about right

On the girls side, it's kind of tragic what's happened the Gadirova's in terms of injury - like Ellie D, there's a hint of what might have been, even as they have had a great career.
