Team GB at IOC 1st World Qualification Boxing Tournament

Recommended Posts

Does anyone actually know what the situation is with Ngamba and whether she is still being considered to represent GB or is her only avenue as a Refugee given the citizenship has not been granted yet?

there is a video feature of her on Olympics.com which she seemed to be intimating she was only focused on the refugee route.

4 GB fighters into quota fights, would have taken that after the first couple of days, will bite my own arm off for 2 confirmed spots, based on what i've seen brown and reid are the ones i think have the best chance, MacDonald has also looked really good but he has a tough opponent (i believe)

It's largely outside of her control now - she has provided all of the information requested by the Home Office and now has to wait for the process to work through to a conclusion. So, if she wants to compete, her only route, as it currently stands, is through the refugee option.

Going into this week, I think the minimum we would have expected would have been 2-3 quotas so to come away with the lower end of that has to be viewed as disappointing.

Given the first few days carnage, I'd have to say 2 + Ngamba has to be considered a decent return, and several decent shots live to fight another day. Seems to me central Asia, and Brazil, are in an ascendency at the moment. I think Ireland's return of just 1 rather more alarming.

    • I still shocks, that a country of 4-5 million inhabitants? can be a powerhouse in almost every winter sport + handball, football (most recently with Haaland) and athletics: Ingebrigtsen, Warholm, etc. With such a small population, they can't be missing out on any major talent, surely? This must be the best training system in the world...
