As long as Italy shows us its beautiful culture and history (or whatever they plan) with decency and style - they can split ceremonies in multiple parts.  I loved Athens, Beijing and London, Sochi was also decent.

Don't count on anything too amazing, since there won't be one single opening ceremony, but 4-5 that TV will kind of combine into one thing     There's not going to be a singular event where all/most athletes of a nation are going to be presented in some way. Everyone stays on their own 'island', these are kind of the Olympics of disconnection.
