Guiness world records has some of the most random records out there like the first Olympic use of artificial snow which happened in the lake placid olympics in usa in 1980. This is probably where Beijing got the in idea of using artificial snow.
ExpandThe PLA is going to be busy, then.
Busy celebrating the second most successful olympics ever after Beijing 2008.
China should ban unvaccinated western athletes just like what Australia is doing. Such move is harsh but it' for the safety of the general public anyway.
Some are cia/pentagon officials though so they must be careful when it comes to approving such requests considering the current situation right now.
US applies for visas for officials to attend the olympic games despite their diplomatic boycott.
By february, at least 20 will declare a diplomatic boycott while 170+ will throw their full support. Congratulations to China for another successful olympics.
The "international community" (20+ countries), although not invited will declare a "diplomatic only" boycott to make a "strong stand" against China.
How can american politicians boycott attending something that they are not even invited to attend.
173 out of 193 UN member states cosposored olympic truce resolution for Beijing 2022. Well done China!
ExpandHave any athletes indicated they won’t be attending due to refusing to be vaccinated?
Probably tennis players, a lot can be very dramatic when it comes to vaccines.
ExpandBeijing 2022 twitter account is now hiding replies containing Peng Shuai and blocking people that mention them about it. Yikes.
You’d expect the official Olympics social media manager to be a bit more professional.
Numerous Award winning western journalists who advocates about free speech in nonwestern countries always delete replies they dont agree with. But they are supposed to be professional and non biased.
I'm excited for the second greatest opening ceremony ever for an olympics, the Beijing 2008 is the best of course.
I hope usa and norway will boycott the games to make it easier for China to top the medal table again.
ExpandIt's not really news, but I had no idea where else to ask it, so here we go. Is there any news on whether or not China will allow the thousands of athletes to use their regular social media in the Olympic village or something? On one hand I can imagine there being some relaxation of rules for such a huge and incredibly international event, on the other hand it's China, so it's hard to get a sense on it...
@Vic Liu Have you heard anything about this by any chance?
In my case it's of course mostly about how to stay in touch with @brunamoura if she qualifies, since she'll be there for three weeks or so in that case. We generally use WhatsApp, but yeah....
Never heard of vpn, tons of Chinese are in twitter thanks to vpn.
ExpandFor the only sport that matters (moguls) SLC’s venue remains the greatest of all times :P
(I am much more excited for Milan’s venues tbh, Olympic biathlon in Antholz is gonna be nuts)
Tbh, only venue I care about is the one for short track because that's my favorite winter sport.
Winter olympics with the best venues is coming. Thank you China.
Beautiful venues. China is so rich.
China is rich, they can afford all the western players.
Norway with 22 golds in Beijing?
Weak, if the USA wants their message heard, their athletes should boycott the game too along with their allies. This will make it easier for China to top the medal table again.
According to the principles of Totallympics: politics should never be mixed with sports.
Does totallympics agree or will this post be censored too.
Looks like western athletes wont be able to practice in the venues. Must be because of the health situation. So sad.
ExpandFun fact: I first learned of the ongoing atrocities in Yemen from... US media.
Does this fun fact magically stops the us government from being complicit in committing war crimes in Yemen by continuously supplying weapons to and and supporting Saudi Arabia.
Fun fact: I first learned of the ongoing atrocities in Yemen from... non-western media.

Lmao, why would China prepare an extravagant venue for a sport that only 0.0000001% of the 1.4 Billion Chinese care about aka ice hockey.
