Looks like Bhutan will break the ice and compete in athletics for the first time.
Other than that, these nations have competed in marathon in the past, but not really since the 1980s and 1990s. I guess marathons are reverting back to large number of flags like it was back in the day, since the World Athletics made it a preferred event for the universality spots.

Pakistan becomes 106th nation with a medal all-time.

Just the relays are left.

Crinfe foul by Manu, instantly followed by cringe jump from Honsel.

Not bad for a Top 15 athlete from Pakistan.

Did I say there will be 15 finishers in the decathlon?
I meant 11...

Portugal is stealing athletes left and right. Both Dongmo and
Inchude represented their nations up the Olympic level.
Who said colonialism is dead?

No medal for Bednarek and

Decathlon became kind of sad ever since they reduced the quota from 32 to just 24.
Now having like 15 finishers will become the standard.

Presumably Italy takes the relay exchanges *very* seriously.

Yellow card to the audience for disturbing the start?

I guess Kaul is not a serious athlete anymore?

ExpandRight, but we haven’t seen that scenario at all. I believe athletes can be disqualified if they don’t put forward a “full-faith effort” (at least that’s the case in many sports), so if athletes were to attempt that before the competition came to the “natural” conclusion they would likely be disqualified.
Which is ridiculous because there is no other event in sport where athletes choosing not to compete is deemed "natural" and "full-faith effort".
What would be so unnatural about skeet shooters wanting to stop the shoot-off for gold after 0, 2, 15, 150 additional targets with no resolve?

Regarding the shared golds, everyone tied for gold can just decide together to stop jumping and then what...? 3, 5, 9, 12 shared gold medals become the norm?
Jump-off or DQ.
This is senior WCh not kindergarten. Athletes should aim to be the best.

ExpandPolish ES speculate Caune wants to break Zola Budd's U-20 European record (14.48.07).
Yeah, that ain't happening, not by a long shot.

I like that there are no ceremonies stopping the program.
IMO, medal ceremonies should only exist at the Olympics and Paralympics (and other rare events like the FIFA World Cup and such). Medal ceremonies come from when sports were held exceptionally. Now everything in sports is over-saturated and the medal ceremonies are simply a waste of good time (in large majority of cases).
Just hand out the medals spontaneously right at the conclusion of the event (not the tin ones, the real ones). No need for an anthem. And definitely no need to play Gaudemaus 500 times at the Universiade.

Universality principle has gone south since they suddenly started allowing wild cards in only a few different events.
Until recently NOCs could select basically anyone (except 3000 m s'chase, 10000 m, combined events and 50 km walk).
