Doping Cases and Bans in 2022

Seems she's not actually admitting to doping intentionally.

  Quote

De Bruin admitted to the violation and waived her right to a hearing in October, when signing an Early Admission and Acceptance Agreement. By doing so, the applicable four-year suspension was reduced by one year.

De Bruin told CBC Sports she signed the agreement due to a lack of funds to appeal the decision.

"I appreciate and respect the need to have tough rules to keep the playing field clean, however, I signed the Early Admission and Acceptance Agreement ... because I simply do not have the financial means to fight it," de Bruin said.

"I have always considered competing for Canada and wearing the Maple Leaf on my suit around the world an absolute privilege, and I would never do anything intentionally to jeopardize this honour."

Australia is considered to be part of Oceania for the most part plus the culture of the two nations are different. I think they have a good chance if a nation outside of Europe is going to win.

The European and American broadcasters (especially NBC) aren't gonna care that it's culturally different only that the timezone sucks for them.

It's strange because it's not banned out of competition but if you take it in competition you're basically guaranteed you'll test positive so that'd be super stupid. I wonder if they're using it out of competition but not waiting long enough for it to clear the system before competing? Or maybe they are just this stupid?

So maybe they fully anticipate testing positive but don't particular care because the money is in pocket and spent by then. Time to withhold all prizes until after tests come back clear? That could be a big hindrance to clean athletes with how backlogged testing labs are.

2021 Boston Marathon champ Diana Kipyokei suspended and her agent doesn’t hold back: “Diana is completely guilty. I am sorry.”

Imo, those countries are bad choices.

Why choose Egypt as the first African country to host the Olympics? They’re better off giving it to South Africa.

As for India, wasn’t their CWG bad in 2010?

And why should they celebrate 100 years after the controversial 1936 Berlin Olympics?

Expand

South Africa couldn't even deliver the CWG when they were awarded them and Birmingham had to step in and host instead.

That said I expect Egypt to be an even worse condidate and at this point in time there doesn't seem to be any African countries capable of hosting without it turning into a mess of white elephants, corruption and terrible economic fallout.

Couple of cases at the Athletics Worlds, both involving fair-size names with medal chances.

Randolph Ross :USA 400m runner - interfering with doping control

Lawrence Cherono :KEN - Trimetazidine.

It's been years since a podium level track and field athlete has been busted by USADA but at least there's AIU to actually do the job they're failing to do.
