Actually Japan may catch Australia. They have 4 wrestling contenders (2 in gold medal finals) and then kitaguchi 😬
ExpandNice analysis. Who do you think will finish 3rd?
Australia should hang on to third. Japan need to win 3 more golds to overtake which is highly unlikely, France don’t have enough chances either.
GB winning 4 more golds is highly unlikely, they needed KJT to win yesterday
australia also has chances for more gold such as Little, water polo final, although both are unlikely
Edited by DkatsExpandWhen I choose my favourite team on the official website, I should get the schedule of participants from my country on this day. It works to some extent, but consequently it ignores some sports like swimming and rowing. Is this only my problem or you experience it so, too?
Yep same thing happened to me didn’t get any from swimming
ExpandI wasn't a fan of the Parade of Nations being split into multiple parts. It made the show feel longer than usual.
Maybe they did it for logistical reasons instead
If anything they probably should have just split it into 2 parts instead of multiple, like first half of countries come out, then a break before the next
Would be more watchable

Will be interested to see the global audience statistics.
Would assume it’s up from Tokyo because of timezones
Imagine Trump opening the games in 2028 😂
End bit by far the best
I don’t feel sea sick anymore
I’m also surprised there was no segment earlier on involving people swimming in the seine considering how it’s now ‘safe’
Unrelated but I wonder who will likely replace Bach
HAHAHHAH picked it
ExpandNah, this has a great energy and plenty of memorable moments. I’ll definitely be re-watching in the future, but I generally care more for the show than the parade.
Each to their own I guess 👍
ExpandTotallympics generally doesn’t have its finger on the pulse of pop culture and the arts though.
But not every post on here is related to sports.
There’s a food and music/eurovision thread after all
Mannnn even Tokyo was miles clear of this.
that pictogram thing they did was memorable.
What am I going to remember from this?
If there is a poll on here about what people thought of the ceremony, I think the result won’t be surprising at all
@hckošice Look!!
Jess Fox is waving at you
At least everything has seemingly gone to plan thus far (bar weather)
no incidents/safe athletes and fans considering all the security scares
The post mortem of this all is going to be very interesting!

As someone who knows nothing about wrestling, is Japan likely to win both of their gold medal matches later? I’m assuming their favourites in at least 1.
Hoping Australia can hang on to 3rd but it’s unlikely now
