  1. Marchand the hero for Canada Scores winner short-handed with only 43.1 seconds left Canada had its hands full with Team Europe but prevailed late in game two. Brad Marchand took a little drop pass from Jonathan Toews, waited, and drilled a wrist shot to the stick side of Jaroslav Halak, beating the goalie with only 43.1 seconds remaining in regulation time to give Canada a 2-1 win over Team Europe and capture its second straight Wold Cup championship. It was a game dominated more by Europe than Canada, and the visitors led 1-0 for most of the game until the final three minutes. Patrice Bergeron had tied the score on a power play at 17:07, deflecting a Brent Burns point shot past Halak, who was sensational. Sidney Crosby, who led the tournament in scoring, was named MVP. Marchand, unexpectedly, led all scorers with five goals. Crosby had ten points while line mates Marchand with eight and Patrice Bergeron with seven finished 1-2-3 in scoring. Crosby was in on ten of the team's 24 goals while the line combined for a total of 25 points. Both goalies were sensational and made key saves with the game hanging in the balance. "I saw Toews come over the blue line and back them up," Marchand described. "I think they had two forwards and one defenceman, so they're a bit uncomfortable there. He made a great drop pass to me, and I just wanted to get a shot on net. Fortunately it went in." Mike Babcock has now run the table on tournaments. He has won gold at the World Juniors, World Championships, and Olympics as well as the Stanley Cup and now World Cup. "I thought we played a really good game...again," said Europe's captain Anze Kopitar, fighting back tears. "I'm really proud of how we played. Everyone thought we'd be the laughingstock of the tournament, and we went all the way to the finals. We gave Canada a pretty good run." The Europeans scored the only goal of the first period on a nice series of passes off the rush. In the end, Andrej Sekera dished off to big Zdeno Chara on the left side, and he buried a high shot over the glove of Carey Price. With that all-important first goal, Europe played stifling defence in the Krueger style circa the Swiss national team years. Players blocked shots with Stanley Cup finals devotion, and Halak was perfect in goal. "I am so proud of the players, and I think tonight was the best game any team has played against Canada in this tournament," Krueger said. "I think Team Europe proved that if players are committed to each other, they can compete against anyone." Canada should have tied the game early in the second period. On an early power play the puck squirted free to John Tavares to the back side of the play, and with a wide open net he hit the post. It’s a shot he might never miss again, but on this occasion he did. It wasn't so much that Canada pressed and couldn't generate offence as it was that Europe played flawlessly with and without the puck. The defence got to shoot-ins quickly and moved the puck out of their end quickly, and when Canada had the puck it had little time to think before a European was on him. But as time ticked down, Kopitar took a penalty, and that's when Bergeron's tip started the comeback. Canada has now won six of eight Canada Cup/World Cup events since the event began in 1976, losing only in 1981 to the Soviets and 1996 to the U.S.
  2. Final Serie - Game 2 Canada - Team Europe 2-1
  3. Canada won the World Cup of Hockey. Congrats ! Fully deserved title in the right hands.
  4. Still 1-0 for team Europe after 2nd period... 20 minutes of regular time to go....
  5. Something Unbelievable just happened in Toronto Canada lost the first period !!! this is the first time in th whole tournament Canada lost the 1st frame. So far they won each one with a total score 12:1. But tonight after a goal of the slovak defence tower Zdeno Chára Team Europe is leading 1-0 after 20 minutes. Still a long, very long and very hard road for the unified team of players from the unwanted small europeans hockey countries to go

So she hope to peak mainly in february 2018, but ofc she will try her best also this season with major focus on world championships. Alsolooking forward about Paulína Fialková. After her carreers season last year there some expectations about her in our team. 12. Final Serie - Game 1 Canada - Team Europe 3-1 HIGHLIGHTS
  13. Crosby ignites quiet Canada Europe had its chances in World Cup final opener Sidney Crosby celebrates Canada's first goal early in the opening period. Sidney Crosby made two signature passes, and each of his linemates--Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron--converted, leading Canada to a 3-1 win over Team Europe in the first game of a best-of-three finals. It was a docile performance, and but for the steady play of Carey Price in goal the energetic Europeans might have come out on top. As it was, coach Ralph Krueger's team has plenty of confidence heading to the second game on Thursday night. "It wasn't our best [game]," admitted Steven Stamkos, who scored the other goal for the winners. "But a win's a win. The third period was better. We played with some purpose. We realize the first two weren't what we wanted, but you have to give them some credit. They're very disciplined through the neutral zone and forced us to do some things that aren't characteristic of us." "We're disappointed," admitted Team Europe captain Anze Kopitar, "but this was our best game so far in this tournament. We can't hang our heads. I thought we dictated the pace and the play for much of the game. It showed we can play with them." "We scored timely goals, but they were better than us for large stretches of time," admitted Canada's coach Mike Babcock. "We found a way to win, but we have to get better. For whatever reason, we weren't as good as we think we can be." Although Canada emerged from the first period with an impressive 2-0 lead, the Europeans had a 13-9 advantage in shots and created more around Price’s goal than coach Mike Babcock would have liked. Nonetheless, Canada opened the scoring just 2:33 into the game thanks to the team’s top line. Crosby fed Bergeron with a nice pass up the middle, and Bergeron went in on goal with Marchand on a 2-on-1. A quick pass at Halak’s crease gave Marchand an easy tap-in goal just seconds after he stepped out of the penalty box. Then, at 13:20, the Canadians scored a similar goal. This time Ryan Getzlaf stripped Zdeno Chara of the puck at centre ice and went in with Steven Stamkos. Again, Getzlaf waited, then fired a quick pass to Stamkos who redirected the puck in for his first goal of the tournament. Canada was lethargic in the second period and paid the price. A shot from the side by Dennis Seidenberg hit a body in front, and Tomas Tatar was right there to pop in the rebound at 7:00. The goal did little to ignite the home side, and later on a power play Andrej Sekera had a short-handed breakaway. Price made the fine stop, but it typified the sloppy play by Canada. In the third, Crosby made another great play. He tried to bounce the puck in off Halak, controlled the rebound and went behind the net. He circled, got tangled with a referee, maintained possession and came out the other side where he fed Bergeron with a perfect pass to make it 3-1 at 9:24. Vintage Crosby saved Canada from a less-than-stellar effort.
  14. yes, the first throw was just hilarious ..but the correction attempt throw number 2 was even more. I was dead when I saw the faces of the players they didn´t knew what it´s going on at all... but yes ok, he is old and clearly had absolutely no clue about...but come on, if you are vip and invited and honored to open a match, it´s just the basic thing to search somewhere in the web or just ask hey! what have I do ? to avoid the shame well, 550 is for a championship which basic idea is to be the main concurrence of the NHL a very very poor number

  18. The statistics of the home games of the new entrant club of the KHL (the first ever chinese club in the KHL Kunlun Red Stars) shows that for the moment it´s far to be a jackpot, there more officials in the stands than normal fans NHL and KHL regards China as a market with huge potential. However, it seems that the inhabitants of the most populous country on earth find very slowly in their hearts a place for hockey. The whole world noticed the historic negative record of the khl league created during last match against Nizhnekamsk whith a poor attendance the smallest in history of the competition with only 550 spectators!!! It should however also be taken into account the fact that the Beijing Kunlun plays actually their home games because works on their home hall in distant Shanghai. anyway The match between Kunlun and Lada Togliatti had some fun, despite empty stands, from the start of the match. When I watched this video I couldn´t stop to laugh, I understand that it´s still too early for China, and probably not everything is clear about how it works, but come on..this is unreal

  20. Very good questions 1- The World Cup is the succesor of the legendary Canada Cup. Most arguably the most important and most prestigious Ice hockey international tournaments. The problem is that this tournament is a NHL/NHLPA tournament, while the traditional world championships tournaments are under the international federation IIHF. so it´s open for the top NHL players and the games are played under NHL rules (there many different rules between NHL and IIHF, btw to explain a bit for example the olympics are playing with the IIHF rules). Since NHL want to remain in their (NHL is the best etc...bubble) the tournament remains invitational for countries with the higher amount of players in the NHL. Thats the reason why some countries like SVK, SUI or GER unfortunately weren´t invited - there some rumors first to made such qualifications for the last 2 tickets, but mainly because of lack of time, the NHL lords decided to creat such mixed teams. Team Europe with the best european players from all other european countries behind the top 4 SWE, RUS, FIN and CZE, and the 8th a specis Team North America of Canadian and USA players under 24 years old. It´s the first time they did it. You can see the previous winners in the first page. 2- I rank it very very high. For me Canada Cup and now World Cup was something like the top of the international Hockey. I am born in a country where the biggest majority of kids have one dream. to play the NHL and win the Stanley Cup. because only the best of the best play in this league, so if you have those players and put them under their national teams you automatically have the best of the best international tournaments. so for me World Cup is the 1st place in international matches tournament. The olympics are extremey prestigious too and I personally rank them plus/minus in the same level. The world champs are for me the number 3. 3- Team Europe is from countries which have not so many "top" players in the NHL that they can´t be invited with a full team, so thats why some slovaks, germans, Danes, Swiss, Slovenian, French, Norwegian and Austrian play against SWE, RUS, FIN and CZE. And team North Americs is a team of the top under 24 years players from Canada and USA from NHL, thats why they play against "normal" CAN and USA team
  21. Martin Kližan and Lukáš Lacko are conditionally excluded from the national team for 1 year. Lacko was fined 10 000 Euro, Kližan 20 000 euro source in svk http://sport.aktuality.sk/c/238554/pohar-pretiekol-klizan-a-lacko-podmienecne-vyluceni-z-repre/
