  3. IIHF today officially cancelled 10 different World Championships originally schedulled from December 2020 to February 2021. With the only exception being the Mens U20 Elite division in Canada (Edmonton & Red Deer) traditionally schedulled during the christmas/new year festive period from 26th December to 5th January. All remaining Mens U20 dividions are cancelled, same apply for the Womens U18 category all dividions including the elite division has been for the 2021 edition cancelled So far all spring tournaments the all Mens U18, Womens seniors and Mens seniors tournaments remains in the schedulle, but however every tournament will be reinspected following the recommendations of the IIHF COVID-19 Expert Group when time arrive. Also the Olympics Womens Qualification 1st round schedulled in Reykjavik this december has been postponed to later date until further notice.

Opened in 2000 hosted matches of the 2002 FIFA World Cup. The stadium famous also for its crescent-shaped roof extending past the edge of the stadium will serve as one of the Football venues during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. 10 matches in total will be played there including quarterfinal.

Sapporo Dome Sports: Football Zone : Football Cities Capacity: 42.000 Status: Completed The Sapporo Dome is a multi-purpose stadium built in 2001 as one of the venues for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Located in the Olympic city of Sapporo on the Hokaido island 830km north of Tokyo. Primarily the arena is used for Baseball, but also for Football. The venue was also the place of the Opening ceremony of 2017 Asian Winter Games, this time will host in total 10 matches of the Football tournaments, only preliminary round games.

Opened in 2001 as one of the venues for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, It is the home stadium of the Urawa Red Diamonds. During the Tokyo Olympics the stadium will serve as home of Football matches, including quarterfinals, one mens tournament semifinal and the Bronze medal match of the Mens tournament.

It is the home stadium of the local football club Kashima Antlers. The stadium has a capacity of 40,728 spectators. During the Tokyo Olympics the stadium will serve as home of Football matches, including quarterfinals, 2 semifinals and the Bronze medal match of the Womens tournament.

The venue hosted several concerts and other cultural events, and many sport events as well. Primarily the stadium is used for Baseball, but hosted also some matches of Australian rules football. During the Olympics in Tokyo 2020 the stadium will be the main venue of Baseball and Softball return to the Olympics including all medal matches.

Tokyo City Stadium Sports: Football Modern Pentathlon (Riding & Combined Event) Rugby Sevens Zone : Other Venues Capacity: 50.000 Status: Completed The Tokyo City Stadium, called also Ajinomoto Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Tokyo opened in 2001. Often used as place of many cultural actions like concert of famous artists. The stadium is the home of several football clubs from the Japanese capital like FC Tokyo, but is mainly known as the Rugby Union Japanese National Team home stadium. For the Olympics, the stadium will host some opening round Football matches and will be the venue for the Rugby Sevens competition and the place of the final events of the Modern Pentathlon events as well.

Odori Park Sports: Athletics (Race Walk & Marathon) Zone : Other Venues Capacity: 17.300 Status: Completed The Odori Park in Sapporo, located on the Hokaido Island, is the farest venue of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. 831km north of Tokyo. Odori Park in Japanese "Large park" spans 1.5 km and covers 78,901 m² was originally designated as the main street but it eventually became a park and divide the City of Sapporo into north and south. Throughout the year, many events and ceremonies were held there, and this time for the Toyko Olympics has been selected to host the Race Walking and both Olympic Marathons.

Saitama Super Arena Sports: Basketball Zone : Other Venues Capacity: 21.000 Status: Completed The Saitama Super Arena is a indoor Sports Arena located in the cty of Saitama, 25km north of Tokyo. Opened in May 2000 as multi-purpose arena with its 35000 spectacular capacity is the 4th largest indoor arena in the world. For the Tokyo Olypics the capacity will be shortened to 21.000. Different major sport competitions has been staged here, like the Figure Skating World Championships, the arena is also the Only venue in Japan that ever hosted a NHL match between Nashville and Pittsburgh in 2000, just like some NBA practice games and Basketball World Championships matches will now serve for the Olympics as the home of Basketball Competions.

Musashino Forest Sports Plaza Sports: Badminton Modern Pentathlon (Fencing) Zone : Other Venues Capacity: 10.000 Status: Completed The Musashino Forest Sports Plaza is a multi-sport indoor arena located in Chofu district of Tokyo. Opened in 2017 the venue includes swimming pool and gymnasium. However, for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, it will host all Badminton competitions and will be also the venue for the opening Modern Pentathlon events - Fencing.
