  1. These also start this week. Unfortunately, it seems like we’re taking a significant step back from the last edition. There is no official website or results system as of yet, which is shame since we had a great results system and plenty of streaming last time around.
  2. Individual performances could also land athletes on the podium from tomorrow on…figuratively of course, since there won’t actually be any medal ceremonies for the individual events
  3. I believe this is where you can watch the Games if you’re from outside Pan American, but I’m not totally sure: https://centrocaribesports.org/elementor-8280/ Claro has the rights in most of Central America. I think Panam Sports Channel might be showing the event in South America. It was very unclear where you can watch the Games if you’re from
  4. Yeah, there’s definitely some short comings with this one at present. In general, there hasn’t been a good results system since the two winter multi-sport games that started off the year. Asia-Pacific Masters was pretty good, except the individual PDF files were nearly 4 MB each!
  5. Broadcast schedule is available on the “media” section of the website, and hasn’t changed for a while now. Times are in CET, so you just need to convert if your time zone is different.
  6. with a full team as well, but no one at the qualifier (at least in the individual rounds). This whole qualification cycle for the Pan American Games has felt a little “empty” or “off” though. US missing random events, NOCs not funding team sports, etc. I think countries are still working through the consequences of the pandemic and other disruptions on their funding.
  7. My colleague is running point on this one. I’m doing my best to help from behind the scenes. I think I might also run some sort of stats blog, but I haven’t made up my mind yet. I’d really like to make it my career to write or assist in the marketing of/about multi-sport games. Unfortunately, it’s a very competitive niche in the communications field. Plus, it can be hard to get your name out there. Totallympics helped in that regard, and then ATR was definitely a step forward professionally. My colleague and I are really trying to create a third main media outlet for international sports fans with DtG, one with a larger scope than just the Olympics, World Cup, and World Championships. It’s not an easy mission with a small staff and very limited budget though. This is our website: https://discoverthegames.com
  8. Three hours into adding all the Olympians competing onto my research document…and I’m only 12 delegations in Not sure I’ll finish it in time for the Games, but I’m doing my best.
  9. And immediately make themselves ineligible for a universality quota for LA28
  10. Hopefully she gets awarded the wildcard
  11. Special Olympics World Games are underway in . It’s a great event for inclusivity, and it still largely captures that multi-sport games energy you get from the other major Games.
  12. Refugee Team was originally supposed to have five athletes, but Kimia Alizadeh is missing from that list at the moment.
  13. Results system available here: https://results-sansalvador2023.com/#/schedule/disciplines It looks like information is gradually being added now
  14. There’s a pretty large and active Armenian diaspora in LA, so that might explain the choice of venue (along with the popularity of French players in the US).
  15. Typical Olympic collaboration between Atos and SwissTiming (Omega)
  16. There have been three editions of the European Games, and three different results data companies. Baku 2015: SwissTiming Minsk 2019: MicroPlus Krákow 2023: Atos So I’m assuming Bornan will get the green light in 2027
  17. It’s probably just a generic template used by Atos. It’s pretty common for wrong/weird nations to show up in the results system as placeholder data while companies load in the actual data.
  18. Nor was it the case in CONCACAF last night
  19. Pretty tough mark to beat honestly. The World Games 2022 didn’t do so hot in that department from my memory. 2022 Mediterranean Games had a somewhat limited footprint as well (although, those went much better than expected in my opinion).
  20. I would advice/propose a national day of mourning (in SUI) for him. A talented Swiss rider dying during the country‘a premier cycling event is worthy of that distinction. Plus, from what I’ve read in the cycling media, he was a terrific guy very worthy of that honor. The image of Bahrain-Victorious riding towards the line with the draped in mourning colors will be one of those somberly remembered moments in sports I think. What a sad day for cycling (and his friends and family).
  21. Nice to see him putting down a podium level run.
  22. According to the broadcast manual, there will only be commentary on athletics, aquatics, and the ceremonies. I think everything else will just be natural sound if the broadcaster hasn’t appointed a commentator.
  23. ISB produced live (or delayed) coverage of individual archery elimination rounds (1/32, 1/24) at the last two editions, so that’s the only real “loss” in terms of coverage. Broadcast manual says there will be basic streaming coverage of all field-of-play (both boxing rings, four table tennis tables, etc). However, nothing to indicated all of those feeds will be made available.
