  1. That hardly could have gone any worse for Austria. Hirscher disappointing and Schwarz injured
  2. There was a really awkward "should we hug?" moment going on between Klaebo and Pellegrino right after the finish
  3. Wow this round easily could have ended with the top four of the setting order all out. Shiffrin and especially Hansdotter were quite lucky their opponents made mistakes close to the finish
  4. In the city events with only 16 skiers there have always been 2 runs in all stages of the event. It's only the events like in Alta Badia, Courchevel or St. Moritz where that wasn't the case (for god knows what reason)
  5. I wonder, am I the only one really wishing they would stop using gs gates for the parallel slaloms? It just seems so unfair to me now that everyone uses the cross blocking technique. Being heavy and tall is just such a huge advantage now and in a sport like skiing where 1.7 meter tall athletes compete against 2 meter tall athletes having a discipline that favors one of the two so immensly just seems nonsensical to me. Edit: Oh, and you have stuff like the flag sometimes randomly wrapping itself around the body or the pole of a skier like with Hirscher just now. @Shiffrin, yeah I completely agree. And I know they were using the slalom starting list but that's exactly my problem. Either you want a fair event, in that case the current system doesn't work as the Schwarz, Ryding example shows, or you want to use the slalom starting list to favor the best slalom skiers as you could argue they deserve that advantage. But then again you aren't exactly favoring the number one of the starting list by letting him go against the unbeatable Zenhäusern in the 2nd round.
  6. The finalists of Oslo, Schwarz and Ryding already going against each other in the first round...the fis should really be able to figure out how stupid this is themselves.

  8. Oh man, just saw the alpine skiing prediction contest result and, damn so close to the medals. I really regret my approach to the mens GS where instead of going with the obvious three guys on the podium I tried my luck with Luitz and Olssen. And actually if the temperatures had stayed cold and the slope in good condition I still think this prediction would have been a good gamble but ofc the weather wasn't as predicted. Now looking at the nordic skiing WC prediction contest, I'm realizing just how little nordic skiing I've watched this season. Not expecting a good result there.
  9. Had almost the same prediction as you but with Schwarz as 2nd and Feller as 3rd
  10. Not sure he knew what the standing was. He looked quite surprised when he saw Schwarz and Matt were the other medalists. Edit: Nevermind he just confirmed he knew Pinturault wasn't in the lead
  11. Gotta say though this podium sweep is mostly a result of everyone else messing up. Especially Pinturault probably gave away gold with his mistake
  12. Hadalin lost one hundred of a second between the first and second split. Then he looked as if his tank was simply empty but man the guy is in great slalom shape. Schwarz only winning bronze in the combined suddenly doesn't look that bad anymore.
  13. I was rooting for Hirscher but you really can't feel overly bad about Kristofferson winning after all the close calls for him.
  14. These champs have been one big catastrophe. Wind in Are, okay you expect that, fog in Are, too bad but that happens, but now even the slopes are crap because of high temperatures...in freakin Are. If there was one thing you could always count on in Are it was good slopes but now even that isn't the case.
  15. Race is about to start and it isn't shortened
  16. I agree, Hirscher overall is dominant but it always seems like he is on the absolute limit while Shiffrin usually looks completley at ease. Also, Hirscher has completely dominant races more rarely than Shiffrin and gets beaten quite a bit more often (I'm talking about Slalom here, things are different in gs) and at the same time if Hirscher gets beaten in the first run the 2nd is almost always a huge spectacle and you just gotta love that. Aside from Hirscher and Shiffrin the thing which to me is actually much more important is that currently the depth in men's slalom skiing is enormous. I mean, which female skiers can realistically win a medal? Shiffrin, Vlhova, Holdener, Hansdotter, Swenn Larsson, Liensberger, maybe Schild. It often feels like even if the skiers I didn't mention have a dream run, they are gonna get beaten anyway because the ones I listed are simply so much better skiers. On the men's side I don't have that feeling. The likelihood of a Croatian winning a medal isn't high but I wouldn't completely rule it out that one of them has a dream run and has his big breakthrough. It's just that this is the case for pretty much everyone in the top 30 who hasn't had his breakthrough already. Everyone is capable of beating everyone and that's really exciting.
  17. No way he is gonna continue that long though. He was already close to quitting last year and if I had to bet I'd actually put my money on him retiring after this season What I'd really like was him giving it a proper go at super-gs but that's not gonna happen unfortunately.
  18. The performances weren't actually that bad, after all they got two 4th places. It's just that the speed specialists all weren't able to convert the great shape they have had all season into medals. In the gs we were never gonna win a medal with Brunner injured and in the Slalom we will see. The slope really doesn't suit Schild, Gallhuber is injured so really that leaves us with Liensberger as the only realiatic medal contender and tbf that's not a very promising prospect
  19. First run of the ladies gs shortened due to bad weather. How man's shortened races have we had so far?
  20. This gets even weirder when you click on the video and realize you've been in the hotel where the video was filmed
  21. Yeah, but that wasn't really something to be proud of. Both slovakian women were completely dominated by their opponents but both slovenian men crashed which means slovakia won automatically
