  1. 20:00 for me, that's great. I should be able to post the votes myself
  2. I'm not 100% sold on Bayern this year. I think Liverpool is actually more dangerous. Anyway what an amazing night of football. Congrats to Roma, that was unbelievable
  3. This season start really feels like last season all over again. Vettel already with a decent lead over the Mercedes guys, but I just have that gut feeling that in the long run Mercedes will turn out being better. Btw, can't wait for 2021, so far I'm absolutely into what Liberty Media is planning.
  4. Horrible news. It's hard to enjoy the race with that in mind
  5. I wonder if there is one single pro athlete right now who has ever illegally used a motor. I really have the feeling the UCI is overshooting the target.
  6. Incredible win by Nibali. He has now won 4 grand tours and 3 monuments. What a legend he is
  7. Vlhova just can't perform well when it's the D-day. She usually wins when nobody expects her to do so but can't get it done in major events, when she is seen as one of the favorites or when she has to get a good result like today.
  8. The swedish team is looking as if they are all thinking "god dammit, 3 weeks too late"
  9. Graz agreed to at least send the IOC a letter of intent, which is the first step to making a bid for the game. Now there will be a feasibility study which will determine if Olympic games are doable without huge costs. Tbh, although this sounds good, I just don't see a bid from Austria happening. The county Styria has already announced that they are not willing to fund the games, the Austrian government is currently trying to reduce its spending and outside the sporting world I still don't have the feeling the Austrian public really wants these games. The only silver lining is that our current government is centre to far right which for once could be a good thing since they are most likely rather willing to host olympic games than the left parties. Now that a swiss bid seems to become less likely I'm rooting even more for Graz as it seems like we are the only alpine country left which thinks about hosting the games. I mean, if Austria makes the bid and Switzerland doesn't it would almost certainly be between us and Sweden. Both Canada and Japan would be absolutely ridiculous choices considering we've only had canadian games 8 years ago and now already two east asian winter games in a row.
  10. I'll not include any olympic moments in this list since there is a thread about the best olympic moments too, but if I was including olympic moments, at least Franz Klammer winning the downhill in Innsbruck would have made the list, and probably a few other ones too (Hermann Maier's wins in Nagano, Raich-Herbst-Schönfelder podium sweep in the 2006 Slalom for example) 5.) Austria's ninefold win on the Patscherkofel in 1998 For everyone not caring about the alpine skiing world cup, no, having skiers from only one nation from the first to the 9th place is not ordinary. A display of dominance which will probably never be repeated. 4.) The whole nordic skiing world championship 2011 7 gold medals for Austria in one world championship is something I probably won't ever see again. Tbf the medal count is partly so high because there were both two team events for the ski jumpers and the nordic combined and Austria won all 4 of these events. But anyway, this was a mightily impressive world championship, with gold in all 5 ski jumping competitions (plus silver in the two men's single events), two gold medals for the nordic combined relay (which tasted even sweeter because they were won in close sprints against Germany) and a bronze medal for Felix Gottwald in the large hill event. 3.) Werner Schlager becomes table tennis world champion 2.) Thomas Muster wins Roland Garros 1.) CÓRDOBA The Austrian national team beat Germany 3:2 in the 2nd group stage of the 1978 FIFA world cup (man, the format of the world cup was weird back then with two group stages and no knock out stage) Austria didn't even achieve anything big by winning this match but still this is probably the most legendary moment in Austria's sport history just because we could spoil our big neighbors world cup. I honestly have no idea why this game even got such a legendary status but Austrians still can't stop talking about how they kicked Germany out of the World Cup in the most famous game in Austrias football history.
  11. Yay, kriechmayr ends his season with two wins. Such a likeable guy who finally managed to convert his great split times into wins. Let's not forget he absolutely could have won bormio and Kitzbühel but had bad last sections + his downhill in the wengen combined was phenomenal but unfortunately one day too early. He is immensely talanted, has a great technique and guts. Two more things: 1. hirscher should finally focus more on super-g's. Ofc he'd be less successful that way but he has already won everything you can win as a slalom/gs specialist and should set himself new goals and I mean he just got a 10th place in a super-g without training that discipline for the whole year. He has so much potential in the speed discipline. 2. then again hirscher should probably rather retire so he isn't one of the many skiers who'll get completely humiliated by odermatt in the coming seasons. Holy crap the guy is talanted. Let's just hope the injury curse for talanted suisse skiers doesn't strike again
  12. Tina Maze won her first downhill in st moritz I think in 2008 with bib 47. 3rd place was lara gut who also had a bib around 40 who got her first world cup podium back then and even would have won if she hadn't crashed on the finshing streight falling over the finish line
  13. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I PRESENT YOU THE FIRST EVER AUSTRIAN SONG IN THE HISTORY OF THE TOTALLYMPICS INTERNATIONAL SONG CONTEST: PIZZERA & JAUS - EINE INS LEBEN: Pizzera & Jaus is a relatively new band, formed by two comedians who wanted to start making music. Ever since producing their first song they have had great success in Austria and hopefully this song will do well internationally too. I've really been unsure which song I should take and I'm still not sure if I made the right choice but the other songs I considered were songs you have to hear multiple times to like them, which is probably not the formula for success in this competition. Anyway, I'm happy that I can participate and it's up to you whether Austria will do well or not Lyrics: English translation:
  14. Yeah, about that one, I already wanted to ask if it's even possible for me to participate since I'm not registered for 2 months yet. I think I've been quite active on the forum but it's probably not up to me to decide whether I may participate or not.
  15. Lol, only just read that roger got the podium. I switched to xc skiing after bib 40 or so
  16. 15? I'd say the last 50 kilometers were superb. Funny that the stage unfolded exactly like in the last two years, just that this time the Spaniard won by a super small margin
  17. Aaaaaaaaarg, god damnit, how did the Austrians f*ck this race up so badly. Both franz and mayer had superb 2nd split times but on the section where everyone gains time on jansrud one misses a gate the other one loses 5 tenths (as a comparison, he lost 9 tenths on theaux and he didn't even make a big mistake, he just skied bad). There are two Austrians who could have won this but instead we don't even have a podium (which reichelt missed by two hundreds btw)
  18. If I have chosen the song for Austria, do I just have to post the song here or do I have to send someone a pm to officially confirm my choice?
  19. Great that Mowinckel got her first victory. It really was about time. Meanwhile Shiffrin secured her overall world cup victory, not that anyone else really had a realistic chance before today anyway.
  20. As people from the host country would say (according to google translate): Pela primeira vez, a Áustria está em In other words, for the very first time, Austria is in At least I think it's the very first time. Hope I understood the rules and didn't miss the deadline.
  21. I'm mightily impressed by real and especially Zidane. This team is horrible at playing every week against average rivals, but when it counts against the biggest teams they are a force. For quite some time I wasn't a fan of Zidane as a trainer but how he managed to transform a defense that struggled all year into one that dominated PSG is incredible. I don't care whether Neymar played or not, the psg front three was still ridiculously talented with cavani, mbappe, di Maria and guys line draxler on the bench
  22. Pretty much agree with everything you wrote
  23. One shouldn't forget that a combined slalom isn't really like a normal slalom since the skiers have "heavy" legs after a super-g of downhill run. Gisin is a specialist for switching from speed disciplines to slalom edit: btw brignone is a specialist for that too
  24. How the hell did Gruber win this? The winning duo has a combined age of 72 years
