Out of curiousity: how do you actually follow those multi-sports events in terms of having a clue about which athletes are good, what to expect in competitions and so on? Plenty of sports one can't realistically follow at a multi-sports event while having a clue of who the actual favourites are without following the regular seasons It's a little like people entering the prediction pools we've got thousands and thousands of during the Tour de France, without watching any other cycling race in the year, so they base their predictions based off of Wikipedia and are easy to beat

I don't think many countries are lying about their numbers, I do think many countries don't have the full picture because it's all rather chaotic.

Thing is, you've basically got two groups of movie-watching people: 1) People who simply want to sit back, watch a movie they like and be entertained 2) People who want to see some deep meaning and 'explored topics' and all that stuff in almost everything One is of course not better than the other, some people prefer this and others prefer that, but group 1 is definitely bigger and so movies that are more fitting for that category get more credit. Logically. Like I said, I sort of liked Arrival, it was interesting, but I liked Planet of the Apes more (and no, no deep meaning or whatever in that one, it's just apes taking over the world and let it be that )

Now that is one messed up way of thinking. Mostly because it suggests also in normal times having a dictator is better. We've seen there are certain countries which did indeed fair better with a dictator than they do without one, sadly, but that's obviously not the case everywhere.

That's a bit of an overreaction. Moving Tokyo doesn't change nearly as much in terms of 'boring nothing' as all sports (basically) coming to a total halt for as long as it takes. If sports at some point resume and slowly get back to their regular seasons and competitions, there once again is a shitload of stuff to watch, whether the Olympics (and due to that the other multi-sports events) were moved or not.

I could probably get a 50-60 meter lap in the garden, but most of it would be over grass and I'd definitely pull a big line of damage on the grass which is not the best idea I could also just use the driveway next to the grass which is 50 meters (let's say 45 since I don't turn exactly at the 'wall' of course), but then it would really be a matter of running back and forth. We are actually sort of planning to set up a shuttle run test for fun So far running outside is still allowed luckily, and since being allowed to go out is important for the health of the general population I doubt that'll change, but if it does, I'm definitely going to try a garden run.

I've thought "nah, that's not my thing" for years, until one day I came by Comedy Central as usual when I've got nothing to do and just didn't feel like turning it off and went on to start watching it from the very first episode on. Not a moment of regret about that decision
