  1. Plus I'm assuming countries will make sure they'll have plenty of them after this Or I'm overestimating the IQ of governments. Probably that.
  2. Good articles @Olympian1010 In terms of the actual content I only have one tiny remark, which is that the writing suggests Galla's Olympic dream was over after his lead attempt - that's not true. Other than that, if I were an editor I'd only leave out some capital letters (like sometimes it's Boulder, other times it's boulder, or Boulders, or bouldering ) and, this one is a bit more important, I'd really try and check names if you're not certain about them. There was no Xander Waller competing, but there was a Zander Waller Only minor things, like I said, good articles.
  3. Unlike Rio and London, that's actually something you're not thrown dead with everywhere already, cool
  4. Weird question, even weirder way of 'answering'.
  5. It's Gent - Wevelgem day, so Gent - Wevelgem on Belgian TV. Still over 120km to go but there's echelons because of the incredible wind and the entire race has completely exploded already Nowadays the dumb-ass 'Extreme Weather Protocol' would have cancelled this, luckily these pure cycling porn images are still there
  6. Awesome that she is apparently not only a talented biathlete, but also a doctor and medical scientist?
  7. Meanwhile we're sending a few hundred thousand masks back to China because they're not working well Thanks China.
  8. Right. Yeah Duffy was impressive, I'm excited to see him in action next year. My favourites are mostly the speed climbers doing bouldering though, especially Iuliia Kaplina at the world OQT in the final (so already qualified for Tokyo) where she was just laughing at the boulders like 'the fuck am I supposed to do here?!' Reminds me of sprinters in speed skating doing longer distances, most notably Erben Wennemars doing a 10k (and a very respectable one!) at the Dutch and later world allround championships.
  9. How? Because with the last climber halfway up the wall there were still three very possible winners (unless you're listening to the commentator, who said that anything but a win for Duffy would mean Waller would qualify, which is not true)
  10. Just posting it here as if it's live because there's nothing going on anyway, but with only Duffy to go this is incredible Duffy wins the lead --> Duffy goes to the Olympics Duffy beats Waller, but not Bailey (2nd) --> Galla goes to the Olympics Duffy beats Galla, but not Waller (3rd) --> Waller goes to the Olympics Duffy doesn't beat Galla (4th or worse) --> Waller and Galla are tied and I have no clue who out of these two goes to the Olympics
  11. Only Duffy and Bailey to go and, contrary to what Charlie Bosco is saying, there are still three (!) possible winners of the gold medal and Olympic ticket, that is awesome
  12. Again 'Current' standings (athletes in yellow finished their lead, those in white have a 1 there to avoid Excel multiplying by 0 and so having 0 as total score). Bosco: "So Galla can now not finish ahead of Waller anymore." But that is simply not true! If two out of the next three, with Duffy and Bailey definitely not impossible to imagine, go ahead of Waller on the lead wall, Galla passes Waller again. It's like commentator Bosco, who I'm generally a fan of, doesn't understand that the points are multiplied instead of added... Also the "Galla is now out of the fight for the Olympic sport" is just entirely false. If Valencia and Bailey take 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 1st on the lead wall, Galla would be the one winning the competition and so the Olympic ticket. Come on..
  13. If you write a word like this chaos almost perfectly without even looking for it, which is rather impressive, you must be able to write quite some decent Chinese
  14. For the love of God don't let Neymar be in it again to dramaqueen the entire Olympics his way
  15. Right, he should have been in there as well. Tight battle between those three, especially Nurmi and Zatopek (although Bekele, though winning less diverse titles, of course competed in the modern era with significantly more competition).
  16. Most online communities I've been part of have seen a huge drop in activity once people started thinking it'd be a good idea to have a WhatsApp group or whatever Nothing that can't be posted here I guess, either in public or in private messages/chat, so I can't really see the added value at all (and like Sindo said, there's also a Facebook group that's used when the forum is down)
  17. Not normally of course, but nowadays, yes. I believe they are not exactly in this state yet, but that's only a matter of days, and by then there is a list of situations where people would not be admitted to intensive care units anymore: - Heart attack where nobody was present, so too much damage has been done - Severe trauma or severe burns with a 90% chance of dying or more - Serious and irreparable brain conditions - Cancer that has spread, including leukemia with a low life expectancy - Organ failure with a low life expectancy - Immune system illnesses with a low life expectancy (such as people suffering from HIV/AIDS in a too advanced stage) - Terminally ill people - People who are entirely depending on help in their daily life My sister's boyfriend obviously falls into the last category there.
  18. I don't know Zuñiga and Beltran, I wasn't sure about Yonathan Fernandez ( @Jesús ), although he gave me a Chilean army/sports team t-shirt last October in Brazil which made me think maybe he could be in military games too, and I had no idea Claudia (who is wonderful) was in that as well, cool

  20. him* I knoe Juan Agurto of Chile is/was in the army, not sure about which Argentinians are but since one of their main bases around races (Bariloche I think) is in a military complex, I wouldn't be surprised if they've got a few as well.
  21. As far as Brazilian winter sports athletes (at least XC and biatlon) go, that'd only be veteran Fabrizio Bourguignon who would be eligible for it
  22. Thanks for the reminder. That's going to be the first time in forever that I don't really care about it in terms of when I have to wake up. Normally of course Sunday morning is the early start of a full day of sports and I really do want to be awake in time, but now...why would I care if I wake up an hour earlier or later or whatever?
  23. "Drowning in their own lungs" is an expression I've often heard. I hope they manage to sedate as many people as possible, so at least not everyone is conscious during all this.. My sister works in the children's hospital next to one of the main hospitals in the Netherlands. Several colleagues are being trained quickly to step in at the intensive care units there, luckily not her yet. There will of course always be children getting sick and needing care, coronavirus or not, so she can keep doing that. Also, her boyfriend has a bad muscle disease and bad lungs (he needs help with pretty much everything in daily life, the most he can do is drink and eat by himself and use his computer and phone), so she should very much be kept away from this virus as much as possible - he is, after all, in the group of people who won't receive intensive care help if necessary in this situation, meaning it'd be game over for him.
  24. Yeah, 48 thousand new ones a few days ago...60 thousand new cases two days ago, 64 thousand yesterday and today we're already at almost 55 thousand with still some big American numbers to go...a few more days and we're up to 100k a day.
