  1. Talay disqualified, such a sad sight Talay
  2. I see Storl only had 2 competitions so far this year, is he injured or something? I really hope not, shot put can be one of the best fights in Rio.
  3. Nope, I am not trolling, which is of course obvious. He keeps improving and improving and now already thew over 21 meters again. If he keeps improving in the next months and has the championship genes of Majewski, he is definitely capable of throwing 21.50m and that's always a distance that puts you right up in the medal fight. Read careful: if he has Majewski's "championship genes". Majewski always and everywhere is at his very best at major championships and throws by far his best distances. If Bukowiecki can do that too (again, if) and actually already reach the 21.50m, he simply will be in the medal fight. Normally I'd say Storl (is he fit?) could be considered the favourite together with Kovacs, a fight which if both are fit in my opinion is somewhat 50/50. Obviously there are quite a number of athletes who are able to fight for the medals and Bukowiecki simply is one of them.
  4. And that's 21.14m and a new world junior record (again) for Bukowiecki If that guy has any of the "championship genes" of Majewski, he's gonna be hard to beat in Rio.
  5. 20.77m opening attempt for Bukowiecki at the shot put in Oslo, that guy is going to do big things in Rio this summer
  6. Yuri van Gelder (NED) has announced he is now certain of a spot in the Dutch team Great news, after missing out in 2008 because he only finished in a terrible 2nd place at the world championships (horribly stupid rule) and in 2012 because he finished only 5th at the world championships.
  7. Yeah, my problem really is not with Asemani herself. Indeed, she was apparently good enough to qualify. The problem is with Belgium not having a quota place and Belgium apparently having "two" athletes at the OQT where one was allowed.
  8. Belgium Women Raheleh Asemani (-57kg) Men Si Mohamed Ketbi (-58kg) Jaouad Achab (-68kg) Yep, Asemani. We all know the story I guess and I think we all have the same opinion on this. The other big thing is Ketbi is selected after all, after a whole lot of problems with staying under the weight limit. Meaning Mourad Laachraoui isn't going to Rio and the Dutch headlines of a while back ("Brother of Brussels terrorist going to Rio") were indeed bullshit, as expected.
  9. Alright, without the obviously best and second-best teams in the world Wait, Denmark didn't qualify? I thought with this new format basically everyone qualifies apart from the "dwarves" like Andorra, San Marino and Liechtenstein
  10. Plans for the weekend: F1 IndyCar (?) NASCAR Euro 2016 without the obviously best team in the world Probably more but I'll have to check the tv channel's schedule
  11. I wonder if we will actually reach the 230 it says in the OP
  12. That last bit is true and it does seem like WADA made some big mistakes in the whole meldonium thing. That still doesn't change that Sharapova admitted using banned substances and the others did not
  13. Nope, its not. The difference is Sharapova was so incredibly stupid to immediately admit she used it after it became illegal. Basically all other caught athletes say they stopped using it before January (or said nothing), that's a huge difference. Sharapova admitted she took banned substances, most others didn't (not just American Lepchenko, also a ton of Russians).
  14. I'm not familiar with Lepchenko's case, but can you give me some link where she says she used it after it became illegal? (Like Sharapova did, which was the reason for her two year ban)
  15. She handled this whole thing with the IQ of a rat She even went on Facebook saying the tribunal clearly said she didn't take it intentionally/to enhance performance, yet that is the conclusion in the end..
  16. Didn't they have someone who is not a convicted doper? Another "fuck you" to the clean athletes..
  17. Yep. Worked your ass off for two years and what do you get? A place in a sport where your best result is accidentally winning the mountain jersey in the Tour of Freaking Cameroon (Haring) and getting a reserve place in your own sport (the other guy).
  18. I'm going to stop discussing on this matter before I'm getting my head bashed in Apart from: I think the Slovak federation f*cked up Haring's career highlight which he had deserved and which is really sad to see and I'm curious to see what Sagan will be able to do.
  19. I still don't get why UCI should have given him a wildcard. Slovakia isn't one of the tripartite nations.. And come on, don't start by accusing the UCI of deliberately knocking Sagan off his bike by a motorbike, that's nonsense (no offense) Besides, it's not like they didn't allow him to participate in the Olympics. They did, in the road race. It's not UCI's problem that Sagan doesn't want to race on that course. That all doesn't change my opinion on Sagan by the way, I still think he's awesome. I just think the Slovak federation seriously screwed up the years of work of an athlete like Haring.
  20. Ah yeah, that should have been a clue
  21. Absolutely But if you look at it from Sagan's perspective: he normally wouldn't have a chance in the road race, it's way too much climbing for him. Obviously the MTB doesn't feature climbs that are that long and we know short steep climbs are less of a problem for him. So why not try it as long as it doesn't kick a MTB specialist out of the MTB race, which it unfortunately does now.
  22. That is so incredibly unfair and such a huge "fuck you" in Haring's face..
  23. Though on the other hand, if there's one person in the road peloton that might pull it off, it's Sagan
  24. Is it sure that Mohradi will go to Rio or might Iran send someone else in his class? I'm definitely hoping for the latter, but if they send him, I'd be happy to see him repeat his London performance
