  1. And before the Turkish empire it was another. And before that yet another. And yet another. And yet another. Always a good illustration of the never-ending killing of each other in especially that region. "The god in my stories is better, so we need to kill you and everyone around you" often being a central theme. In short, nobody 'deserves' to be there (or anywhere in the world, for that matter) and definitely nobody right now can genuinely claim the land on historical grounds or anything (which apparently people often do), unless they're a proven descendant of the first cavemen and hunter-gatherers and such coming from Africa tens of thousands of years ago.
  2. I don't think dropping a bomb in the center of London would be beneficial to their position on the stage of global sports, but hey, who knows
  3. I guess so. Anyway, the banana slug definitely looks cool and I had no idea it existed, learned something
  4. Cool But also, what now? Like, the banana slug is the 'official California state slug'....so....now what? Do we get like the LA Banana Slugs in the baseball leagues? Just curious as to what exactly the point is of these state things, definitely out of curiousity
  5. "We" But yeah, just saying "oh its war, we are the good guys, just defending ourselves" isn't different to what the 'other side' says. Very plain, very simple: both Netanyahu and his cronies and the terrorists of Hamas, Hezbollah and so on have insane amounts of blood on their hands. They can try to wash it by saying "but the other guys are worse!", but that doesn't work. Oh well, I don't believe in an afterlife, but if I did, I'd be happy knowing where these 'leaders' will end up, all in the same place.
  6. Calling Netanyahu a war criminal and specifically saying someone like Nasrallah or Haniyeh isn't is rather laughable, to be fair. Just like calling Nasrallah a war criminal and Netanyahu a 'good guy' is equally laughable. Both have the blood of thousands of innocent civilians, including children, on their hands and both have a very, very special place in hell waiting for them.
  7. Hahahahaha not even a medal for Vollering Kopecky with back to back titles.
  8. Haha, Markus in a bit of trouble, and instead of waiting for Markus (who would be very useful on the flat last part) Vollering pulls harder and drops her. Then pulls again and drops Vos as well, who is the main sprinter in the team. Now Vollering is alone against strong sprinters like Roseman-Gannon and Lippert Oh how I hope for a 4th place for Vollering.
  9. I love the Dutch women's team. They've made the race super tough, and as expected, they're the ones getting in trouble Tactical geniuses. And once a few teammates are almost closing back in, Vollering attacks again
  10. Hezbollah has confirmed the death of Nasrallah Many Lebanese people celebrating on social media. That's another war criminal gone. Haniyeh and Netanyahu next, please.
  11. Looks like, for now It's odd though, this morning I checked several different threads and it was 3 all the time. Anyhow, it seems to be normal now, basically
  12. I doubt it, because it's suddenly on every thread Edit: huh, here it's not now. I swear earlier this morning it was on all threads. It would certainly explain the politics thread only showing a handful of posts.
  13. Which is why I'm not reading the books, ever (because obviously he is never going to finish that). No problem with the shows though.
  14. I honestly wonder how that can be done. Generally speaking, rider behaviour is most likely the first thing one would have to look at. So many bad falls due to riders just not paying attention, taking insane and often even unncessary risks or (hello Jay Vine) coming from the world of things like Zwift and therefore not having basic bike control skills. There's of course also other things, like mass sprints on those super wide and straight roads.
  15. @Sindo Not to be annoying But a page being full after 3 (!) posts surely isn't by design, but something not going entirely right in the forum software? It was already honestly too little to have a new page every 10 posts, but every 3 is a bit much
  16. Rumours are saying terrorist leader Hassan Nasrallah of Hezbollah may have been killed. Wouldn't be surprising, since yesterday's large attacks they have not made a single coherent statement, it's like all leadership is gone.
  17. Yeah, here season 1 is on Netflix, season 2 I had to download because I couldn't find it anywhere. So, same for season 3, but last time I checked only the Russian version was available yet
  18. Ooff, Svrcek showing the world what NOT to do when going for a sprint. He seemed like with 200m to go he was still not expecting the sprint to begin... Epic race though for Behrens, far and away the strongest in this race today, what a monster of a rider.
  19. Still on my list and excited about it, everyone I know who has seen it has been positive about it The only negative things I heard about it were coming from people saying stuff like "this is woke!" and "that is woke!" and "too woke!!", so yeah, nothing that actually matters. First some other things though. Just finished House of the Dragon's second season, which was fan-tas-tic Now started with Breaking Bad and Chernobyl and waiting for From's 3rd season to be available.
  20. Great attempt by Jan Christen, but Behrens and Svrcek have caught up with him and are looking mightily strong. Behrens is 1,95m by the way and is overpowering this course, damn.
  21. Goddammit According to Swiss Blick, the trauma helicopter landed only an hour after the end of the race...and a motorbike rider in the race said he wasn't even aware it had happened, leading to the second pass there having no safety precautions whatsoever. She was simply laying there out of view
  22. What's worse there is that it took insanely long for anyone to even go there and try to help her....like, nothing happened, at all. She was crying out in pain in the pouring rain and nobody came to help, that was awful. And then someone finally went there....and just picked up her bike to move it away. Come on.
  23. Like I said, we live in the same house, I don't need to call She will pick a song (and I specifically requested not to let me hear it before she posts it, I want to keep everything as fair as possible obviously), the fact that it can be 2019 or older makes it a lot easier than if it needed to be recent.
  24. If none of the usual Brazilians joins, I'm 99% sure Brazil will still be saved, so I think that's good news for the contest None of the 'always there' countries should drop out.
  25. Those hurt, especially not one but two countries that have never missed a single contest likely missing out now Where did everyone go? Edit: I see Slovenia is in, that's fantastic news! Brazil though... I think I'm going to ask if @brunamoura wants to come up with a song, despite really not having lots of time for it due to training and work. With some luck, she can listen the playlist on Spotify during training or something and get a bit of a sense of which songs she likes. If that's acceptable for people of course, I can perfectly imagine people wouldn't be too happy with that since we literally share a household and it might be seen as a conflict of interest (although anyway I always only tell her my favourite songs after I sent my votes).
