  1. Kevin Kisner leading the field with -5 after day #1 at The Open... Tony Finau and the duo Erik Van Rooyen & Zander Lombard follow with -4... good 32 golfers are under the par at the end of today's action (and 20 more are Even with par)... when the weather conditions are not so difficult (better, extreme), links courses are too easy... I want to see some golf from Carnasty, not Carnoustie...
  2. earlier today, Golf, The Open...right now (all at the same time...it's really like at the Olympics ), Football Sub-19 Europeans (men's division), ITA vs POR + Rink Hockey men's Europeans, ITA vs ESP + Waterpolo women's Europeans, RUS vs HUN
  3. Natalia Ducò provisionally suspended for a positive test (GH)... http://www.politicalhispanic.com/en/they-confirm-the-provisional-suspension-of-the-chilean-natalia-duco-for-doping/
  4. well, I'm not that old (I'm gonna turn 44 in 9 days) to remember foil and epee before wiring (my first really clear memories are about the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles and those weapons were already wired)... meanwhile sabre became like the others only after the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games...and I remember that before that, all assaults lasted more than a foil match because there were always a lot of complaints and so many fencers arguing with the refs at every hit... and actually many times the fencers also had a lot of discussions even between themselves during the assault, reciprocally complaining about opponent's unfair attemps to manipulate the ref... what I liked, it was the rule that after 3 calls of "simultanèe" priority was assigned to one of the 2 athletes (the 1st was by draw, then it was 1 left and 1 right according to the natural sequence), so in case of a 4th call "simultanèe" the hit was going to someone in any case...I'd rather apply that rule also to today's sabre, because I can't stand those coward refs who always call that even 10 or more times in a row every time they do not have a really evident "winner" of the hit... I couldn't find anything about the epic mess of the team bronze medal match in Seoul 1988 (guess who were involved? yes, you're right...the Italians were there ), but here is part of the Los Angeles 1984 Team Gold Medal match between ITA and FRA...that's a good expample of how sabre was at the time... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQjDT6ORMyk
  5. unfortunately Ten's death is confirmed... https://bnews.kz/en/news/25_year_old_denis_ten_has_died R.I.P.
  6. sure... I started following Fencing with the 1982 Worlds in Rome, when I was a little child (those champs became -in-famous also outside the fencing world because of the fatal accident that killed the reigning Olympic and World champion in men's foil, the Soviet Vladimir Smirnov)... let's say it wasn't the easiest approach to the sport...but, despite that tragic day, I've always been liking fencing (by the way, my favourite weapon is men's sabre...man, I remember what used to happen in the late Eighties, when there wasn't the electric signal for the hits yet...every assault was crazy...those refs got really mad all the times) ...
  7. beside the already known Olympic Qualification Regatta (Varese, April 27th through April 29th), in 2020 Italy will host also 2 (out of 3) World Cup stages (Sabaudia, April 10th through April 12th and Varese, May 1st through May 3rd)...
  8. always on the Tokyo Olympics... according to the latest rumors reported by the Italian press, FINA has stated that they do not have anything against the Swimming (semis and) Finals being held in the morning, like it happened in Beijing in 2008... the official announcement won't be made until September (at least), but it's basically sure that, with the green lights given by the Aquatics World Federation, the Japanese organizers will make the greedy and powerful NBC happy and we're going to relive the (awful) Beijing experience...
  9. 29th Haarlem Baseball Week Yesterday's Results TPE b. GER 11-3 JPN b. NED 5-3 Today's schedule CUB vs TPE (h.14.00) ITA vs GER (h.19.00)
  10. so, also the forelast day of the group stage is over...and tonight we have both groups deciders: first the big match ESP vs ITA @ 8 p.m. CET (Spain win the group with a win or a tie, Italy need to win because of the worst goal difference), then POR vs FRA @ 10 p.m. CET (POR have the advantage in the GD and are heavy favourite in any case)... yesterday's results: ENG b. NED 6-4 FRA b. SUI 5-2 ITA b. GER 11-5 ESP b. BEL 22-0 POR b. AUT 15-1
  11. sure, but Congo athletes have a long history of DNS... so, better not to expect them to be at the start until you actually see them on the piste...
  12. yes, I see that at least we get some results in almost real time... that's better than nothing... but I still want to see the early rounds of the main draws live...and I don't trust Chinese streams at all... p.s. those early "killer match-ups" happen when someone (and I'm talking of Fiamingo, of course) has a couple of consecutive disapponting seasons... at least Rossella didn't go out in the qualification round...
  13. did you really expect them to show up?
  14. Clay Target World Cup, Stage #6 ( Tucson, AZ, USA ) Mixed Team Trap Gold: United States-2 (Corey Cogdell & Casey Wallace) Silver: France-2 (Melanie Couzy & Sebastien Guerrero) Bronze: United States-2 (Kayle Browning & William Hinton) and also the last World Cup event before the World Champs is over... it was a minor stage, with most of the best shooters in the World not showing up in the desert, but opting for a different way to fine tuning their shape ahead of the biggest event of the year... however, in the end the hosts won the medal table with 2 Gold medals, meanwhile ITA, FIN and KOR got 1 Gold medal each... FRA, ESP, GBR and SWE also earned their presence in the final medal table, but with no Gold in their bags... now...let's fly to Korea, where in 40 days the All Shooting Disciplines World Championships are on stage...
  15. why don't you take a tour to the Roller Sports (Rink Hockey Euro 2018) thread?
  16. I'm really happy I lost my bet...after a good sleep in the second and early in the 3rd quarter, we got our focus back and finally HUN were destroyed as I never saw in a global championship match... I'm really satisfied with our boys, they have a superior mental strenght than our girls...and everybody can see it in any game played by them...
  17. for what I see, the men's 50km race walk starts at 6 a.m. Tokyo time, which means 11 p.m. of the previous day here in Central Europe (and not 9 p.m. CET)... and also the Slalom Canoeing races start at 6 a.m. (qualifications) and 7 a.m. (semis & finals) CET... in Summer, Tokyo time is UTC+9, which means CET+7... https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/japan/tokyo p.s. I guess the schedule has been compiled by the same genious that made the Pyeongchang one...almost all the finals are locked in the 6 to 10 p.m. local time (and a few in the morning and in the 2 - 4 p.m. slots)...
  18. sure...if you think that even "the Donald" is better than Hitler and Stalin...
  19. as expected, ITA have already stopped playing... I bet they won't score more than 1 or 2 goals in the whole 2nd half (and the game would finally get really close)...
  20. unfortunately it doesn't mean he's doing a good job as the IOC President right now... frankly, I think he's (almost) destroyed the Winter Games and he's close to ruin the Summer Games, too...
  21. no, here in Europe it's not like that... it's not a question of being sexist...it's really like @dcro wrote... most girls here are not really interested in sports (especially some not so popular disciplines not seen as "female oriented"), even when they're given the same exact opportunities as the boys...
  22. I think it's more a request by the European (and US) TV networks... having those men's finals on Saturday at night (in Japan) means we have them in late morning/early afternoon here in Europe (which is better than having them at sunrise or even earlier)... meanwhile the women's games (which have less audience here in Europe, but a lot more in the American Continent) on Sunday at earlier times match more the US (and the whole American Continent) TV stations requests...
  23. imagine if Brazil would eventually win it (and women's Street SkB, too)...
  24. they are crazy...it can't be anything different...they are completely crazy...
