  1. mathematically, yes... according to their previous results in 2018/2019, not so much...Torre (3rd) and Marciano (10th) are well ahead of the other 2 guys in the EFC Cadet Ranking (Heathcock is 27th and Nardella 28th)... rankings, especially at this age, don't say too much, but without knowing the guys personally, it's the only way to build some kind of "expectation"...
  2. unfortunately he lost 15-14 to Oscar Sans in the round of #16 (so, he will end up in 9th position in the final ranking)...

  5. well, he's still a young (promising) kid aged 16 (he turns 17 in August)... and last year he was only 91st in the World Cadet Ranking, so his improvement is amazing... by the way, now he's qualified to the round of 16, where he has to face a French guy (the assault should be running right now)...
  6. @heywoodu hey man, today we have a Dutch guy (Bote Schaaftsma) seeded as no.1 in the men's Cadet sabre after the preliminary groups... that's unusual (and unexpected)...
  7. well, he said that Riiber would have won yesterday's race with margin (despite being more than a minute behind the leading group after the jumping phase) and no Austrians could even make the top 10 (despite 2 of them were in that leading group with big margin after jumping -and an easy not-difference-maker track in CC ahead of them)... plus a couple more of those... basically, he was speaking of Nordic Combined without having any sort of clue of the scale of values of that sport (and the different characteristics of the athletes involved)... it looked like the average Italian public Tv "sport expert"...
  8. yeah, I just saw her fight against Trajdos...good comeback and controversial ippon in the golden score...surprised they gave it to her in Germany against a German girl, with all the audience whistling the ref... (EDIT: nevermind...my mistake...) meanwhile, not a good day for our boys...Giovanni Esposito lost a fight he should have won against Oroudjov (after a couple of promising wins) and Christina Parlati didn't show his class, losing to an unknown Azeri... bad outing also for Centracchio, losing her first fight of the day (even if Quadros is quite a tough opponent for a rd #1 match)...
  9. in the end, the Italian girls, almost not existing through the entire season, today did better than the men...and not because they got some results beyond any expectation... what a sadness to see our CC skiing team so boiled if compared with 10/20 years ago...
  10. at least finally Sundby didn't get the Gold Medal... but I just can't be happy with this final ranking... NOR and RUS once again...meh...
  11. by the way, the prize for the best comments of these Worlds so far goes to Devon Kershaw and his yesterday's analysis before the Cross-Country stint of the Nordic Combined... he didn't get any of his "favourites" even close to the result he predicted...
  12. Patrick Winterton and Mike Dixon, English language Eurosport commentators...
  13. c'mon, guys! let's be serious...this Algerian guy is 100 levels below the Mongolian...he didn't need to do anything intentional to lose against him...
  14. Cadet & Junior African Championships 2019, Final Overall Medal Table (Sub-15 events NOT included) EGY, 14 / 6 / 17 ALG, 4 / 8 / 7 TUN, 0 / 4 / 2 RSA, 0 / 0 / 2 LBA, 0 / 0 / 1
  15. Cadet & Junior African Championships 2019, Junior only Medal Table EGY, 10 / 4 / 8 ALG, 2 / 4 / 6 TUN, 0 / 4 / 1 LBA, 0 / 0 / 1 RSA, 0 / 0 / 1
  16. by the way, 7 Asian shooters at the first 7 positions of this first world cup event...
  17. 2019 World Cup, Stage #1 (New Delhi, IND) Women's Individual 10m Air Rifle Gold: Apurvi Chandela Silver: Zhao Ruozhu Bronze: Xu Hong Olympic Quota: China, China
  18. Grand Slam (Düsseldorf, GER) Day #1 Recap First day of the second Grand Slam of the season...and guess what? Japan won 4 out of the possible 5 Gold Medals... Today's glory went to: Ryuju Nagayama (men's -60kg), Joshiro Maruyama (men's -66kg), Funa Tonaki (women's -48kg), Tsukasa Yoshida (women's -57kg)... the only weight class that wasn't won by a Japanese player is the women's -52kg, where Majlinda Kelmendi showed once again that she's not the reigning Olympic Champion for nothing... Full Rankings here: https://live.ijf.org/gs_ger2019/results for Italy, another good but not outstanding day...our rising star Manuel Lombardo in the end was 5th like in Paris, losing once again in the pool final (this time to the eventual winner, Maruyama of Japan) and then wasting the chance of a medal in the Bronze Medal bout against another "mr. Nobody" (this time the Russian Yakub Shamilov)... the best result of the day, once again, came from Odette Giuffrida, who won another Bronze Medal (after losing the semifinal against the untouchable Kelmendi)... after a very difficult couple of years (because of bad injuries, tbh), finally she looks back in her best shape like in 2016, winning her 2nd Bronze in a row in Grand Slam tournaments...
  19. day #1...meh to start the home champs, just 2 bronze medals...not a disaster, but definitely not great, too...below the expectations, to say the least (especially because 1 of the 2 competitions from today's schedule was the men's Foil)...
  20. it was too beautiful to be true... until now, there haven't been any problem with this champs' results...but when you're happy to have got all the infos in reasonable time through the entire week...zac! today's results just stopped coming before the last 3 final assaults... so, while we wait for the last medallists to be known to complete our final summary, we can add the champions of the unusual sub-15 contintal tournament (which actually don't count officially for the Cadet & Junior African Championships)... women's sub-15 individual epee: Inour Elshamy women's sub-15 individual foil: Salma Hany women's sub-15 individual sabre: Jana Mohamed men's sub-15 individual epee: Mohamed Yasseen men's sub-15 individual foil: Ahmed Hendawi men's sub-15 individual sabre: Mohammed Belasam Bounaceur
