    Aaare, what great..it was awesome. It is a fact that USA has gone down from 8 to 13 rank but India also went up from 15 to 9. The scoreline was unthinkable at least 2 years back.

    What could be a realistic number of medals in the Olympics. It would be the bad men and women again - Wrestling, Boxing and Shooting. Badminton could also chip in. The rest are also-ran types.

    What about the next batch of players? Saina will not be in the next Olympics, probably Sindhu too. Any idea about Ruthvika Shivani and Rituparna Das? Lakshya Sen won something a fortnight back but still yet to be in the big league. Bad days ahead for badminton without good junior players coming up.

    If Saina and Srikanth do not qualify, they would better leave in the next two years. They would not be around till 2024 for sure. But where are the next batch of badminton players? Any idea about Ruthvika Shivani and Rituparna Das?     What about Archery qualification? Now the news is that Deepika Kumari has gone down to No 4 within the country. It is best not to rest any hopes on the Women's team qualifying.

    While we have seen improvements in Shooting, Wrestling and Boxing; the Badminton team seems to have lost steam just before the Olympics.

    Similarly dont send any players for Judo, Swimming, Sailing, etc. Use that money for badminton, Boxing, Shooting, Wrestling, etc.

    Better not to qualify than be among the last 10. The money can be spent elsewhere.

    We appreciate only PBs and SBs. Countries like China and USA only pay heed to medals. Even smaller countries are obsessed by medals only.

    All are quite far away. The Worlds Athletics is a major disappointment. We should not have hoped for anything but would have liked to see how Neeraj Chopra and Hima Das would have fared.

    Aare, in weightlifting, only Mirabai Chanu has any realistic chance of winning anything. She will also probably be the only one travelling to Tokyo. We should shift focus on Hockey and Archery. When is the next Archery qualification happening.
