  1. When are the Archery and Shooting qualifiers happening. These are probably fist off the marks for Tokyo. Next are boxing and wrestling.
  2. India defeat Thailand 4-1...Next up is UAE and then Bahrain. Can India reach the knock-outs??
  3. Why isn't India in the Hockey World League (Men or Women) in Jan 2019
  4. India for the first time, after a long time, top the group in a hockey championships
  5. They did these histrionics in the Asian Games and then lost to Malaysia..Quite Bizarre!!! Losing to Malaysia, Ireland and Canada periodically...
  6. The number of possible medals can be gauged from the World Championships only. We have a bronze in Archery (Only God knows why Deepika doesnot win anything at Asiad or Olympics) and one in Shooting. We have only 2 quotas in Shooting while smaller countries like Slovakia and Croatia have 3 each. Major countries like Japan (12), China, USA, Russia have more than 6 quotas. probably we are for another debacle unless Badminton, Boxing and Wrestling come to the rescue
  7. The major sports where we can win medals in Tokyo 2020 are: 1) Shooting: 3-4 2) Boxing: 2-3 3) Wrestling: 1-2 4) Hockey: 1 5) Badminton: 1-2 This is the minimum target. Is Compound Archery in the Olympics? If yes, then we may win.
  8. India has won 2 quota in the Shooting World Championships. Now China has 8, Japan has 10+. Even Croatia and Slovakia has more.
  9. What is needed is medals in senior stage
  10. India has only 2 quotas after one week of competition. How many more will we get? Don't understand the hysteria behind the 18 medals. Almost 90% were won in junior category that doesn't translate into Olympic quotas.
  11. Out of 15 shooting events, we have closed quota places in only 1. Long way to go!!!
  12. It's only 2 quotas as of now. The World Championships will suggest how many medals we can win. The juniors winning medals is fine but for Tokyo the seniors need to win medals.
  13. At the Olympics India does not fare well in Athletics and Swimming with a chunk of the medals.
  14. Not in the finals of the Olympic qualification event!!! The going gets tougher.
  15. This is an Olympic qualification event. If you qualify earlier, you ave that many more days or hours of practise. You cannot still be an also ran.
  16. First even gone in the qualification. Not in the finals. Lets see how many qualify to the Olympics then we can estimate the number off medals.
  17. Overall a bit of a disaster in the Asian Games. Probably it is better only the best qualify for the Olympics and not just make up the numbers. The only sports from where we can expect medals are the below and the comparison from 2014 Asian Games is provided. No medals in Hockey are exxpected (Men or Women). Let them first qualify. Shooting: 2014: 10 m Air Pistol - Bronze 25 m Center Pistol (Team) - Silver 50 m Pistol - Gold 10 m Air Rifle - Bronze 10 m Air Rifle (Team) - Bronze 50 m Rifle 3 Positions - Bronze 10 m Air Pistol - Bronze 25 m Pistol (Team) - Bronze Double trap (Team) - Bronze 2018: 10 m Air Rifle - Silver 50 m Rifle 3 Positions - Silver 10 m Air Pistol - Gold + Bronze Trap - Silver Double Trap - Silver 10 m Air Pistol - Bronze 25 m Pistol - Gold 10 m Air Rifle (Mixed) - Bronze Manu Bhaker and Ashish Bhanwala did not win anything and they are medal hopefuls in the Olympics. Archery: Zero medals. Compound Archery not in the Olympics Wrestling:- 2014: 1 Gold + 1 Silver + 3 Bronze 2018: 2 Gold + 1 Bronze Boxing:- 2014: 4 Bronze + 1 Gold 2018: 1 Bronze + 1 (Silver/ Gold) Badminton: 2014: 1 Bronze 2018: 1 Bronze + 1 Silver
  18. The Indian contingent isn't faring well. We are losing medals in wrestling, boxing and shooting. The big guns are not firing with the Olympic qualification coming up.
  19. The Asian Games turnout of events is not bright for the Olympics. The sportspersons who failed include: Manu Bhaker Anish Bhanwal Pooja Dhandha Sushil Kumar Shiva Thapa Sonia Lather Deepika Kumari Manoj Kumar the list goes on... The Olympics qualifications begin now onwards. It will be difficult for these people to bounce back if they don't start now.
  20. Let's hope for the best. But Manu Bhaker losing focus in the finals is a worry. The World Championships are upcoming and the squad needs to regroup asap.
  21. Medals are decreasing in Shooting, Wrestling, Boxing (Maybe), Rowing. Where we have realistics chances of winning Olympic medals
  22. Our medals in Boxing are also vaporising. Why did Shiva Thapa change weight class only he knows
