  1. He has the OCT but is off the OQT by 0.04. Something which could help Peters and potentially give him the edge over Gammon is the fact he achieved the BST in the heats, meaning they'll be able to enter him into the individual if he's taken as relay cover without having to undermine their selection policy too much. Harsh on Gammon, but in my opinion it's the better option.
  2. Yeah this is not really ideal. The big outlier here is Gammon, as he finished ahead of both Peters and Guy who both had an abysmal back end. Otherwise we would've been able to have Litchfield and Peters as options for individual and relay without hurting the 30 as both were expected to go.
  3. I reckon they'd want a second, younger swimmer competing in the Women's 50 free at the Olympics this year to get that experience for future games. In the nicest way possible Anna is getting on a bit now and it's quite unclear if she'll even do LA in 4 years time. The splash and dash is one of the marquee events of every games, and not having a representative in it would be majorly embarrassing on our part. My guess is they let her choose whether she wants to do is, as she's definitely more than capable of dropping almost 3 tenths off her time despite how hard it is.
  4. I'm honestly not sure. When the selection policy came out I was quite shocked that the Mare Nostrum events weren't on there as alternative events to achieve the standard at as they have been in previous years. I think this could be a possibility for someone like Okoro or Hanlon as British Swimming (Aquatics GB is still weird to me) do like to have maximum representation in all events if possible whilst also keeping the integrity of the selection policy.
  5. I don't think he actually does, he's already qualified so he's effectively in the same boat as a pool athlete doubling up. Would be very stupid if he does count as two places.
  6. Brilliant swims from Jervis and Robinson, both of whom will most likely represent us in the 1500m. I think I'm also right in saying that Robinson doesn't take a place off another athlete due to him qualifying in the open water, so it's highly likely the selectors will let him race this despite missing out by half a second.
  7. Really excited about tonight's session. Half the field in both back heats being in contention will make for some cracking racing, along with the prospects in the 1500 free and 200 breast. Even Beesley in the 200 fly looked really good this morning, am intrigued to see how he close he can get to the time.
  8. Didn't realise there was an option to block someone without it ruining or disrupting your experience. Would've saved me bags of time yesterday when going on about Kieran Bird's chances of making the team yesterday - he didn't half clog up the chat with depressive comments.
  9. I hope the selectors do still take him into consideration, the time he did would still make him a contender for the final in Paris. Could even see a scenario where the selectors give him an ultimatum to replicate that time at the Euros if he wants to go to Paris.
  10. If we're still under the 30 athlete limit and if the selectors consider him an asset for the 4x200 then they might still consider him given how close he was but it's unlikely either will be the case. It's especially harsh on the distance swimmers to miss out on that much as that's effectively 2 or 3 quicker turns at the wall.
  11. Kieran Bird misses out by 0.21, extremely harsh on him given how well he swam there. If it was any other year they'd strongly consider taking him anyway, but with so many athletes looking likely to overwhelm the 30 athlete limit I'm not sure they'll even consider him.
  12. Quite late to this but congrats to on winning and thanks to @Henry_Leonfor hosting an amazing contest. Thanks to everyone who voted for us, with a special thanks going to @hckošice for giving us a gold medal. Really glad we finished on the left side of the board with a rock song (considering they don't really do that well in these type of contests). In terms of the open contest, I am still interested in hosting but will have to see how it fits around me going to University in September. Meaning it could be earlier or later than usual.
  13. Now that Chantelle has qualified Ngamba will represent Refugee, GB Boxing have even dressed her up as a qualifier on their twitter page with the whole shabang (enlarged tickets, mascot teddy, etc) which I don't think they'd have done if they had the intent of dropping her for Cindy. Although like mpjmcevoy and Rafa said a few pages back, the British media will treat her as our own at the games.
  14. Chantelle was actually a surprise qualifier, as many thought only Cindy would qualify and she would become our representative. I would consider Patrick Brown a medal contender though, he fought well all week and looked impressive.
  15. I'd disagree, there were 3-4 boxers who were amongst the favourites in their category to qualify who got beat in the first round. Yes they got tough draws, but the fact a lot of them got thumped 5-0 is were the real issue lies.
  16. Really poor week for , there's a high chance we'll be sending our lowest team since '08. Really need to storm the Bangkok qualifier.
  17. If you need an extra pair of hands, I'm more than happy to help with this draw.
  18. I think if they're gonna cut anywhere, it'll be on second place who only just scraped the time as they could make the case of not winning the national title being the reason for their exclusion. I also think if the likes of Evans and MacIness miss the standard by around a tenth, then I still think they'll get selected for the individual as they'll most likely use them for the relay and having them swim the individual could give them a feel for the event on their debits (I believe they did the same with Bird last year by letting him swim the 800 despite him only qualifying for the 400).
  19. Evans looked great tonight, she blitzed the first 50 and nearly did it in sub 31 seconds. Can definitely see her going under 1:06, and even if she doesn't repeat this but still comes really close I can't see BS passing her up with the form she's in + with her being in the relay too.
