  1. Is the top one dedicated to the one and only Welsh sexbomb or someone completely different?
  2. Just found out that have been handed a very surprising wildcard to this tournament. We're going to the Olympics baby!! The others team's don't stand a chance now that the mighty British Women's handball team have entered the fray.

  5. The meeting is tomorrow, so we'll most likely find out by Tuesday at the latest.
  6. This is a pretty accurate prediction. I expect Robinson to swim the 800 and 1500, they're very far apart in the schedule and he can use them as a good warm up for the open water. I also expect Jervis to swim the 800. I think if we're taking Wilby, he'll most likely also do the 200 breast despite only hitting the OCT - same applies to Hanlon. I also expect Guy to do the 100 fly as well as Litchfield as he won't have as many relays to do this time. Lastly, I don't think McMillan makes the team. He would only do the 200 free relay and we already have decent backups in that in Bird and J Litchfield. Whittle for me is a better option as we need a strong reserve in the 100 relay.
  7. Based off of tonight I think the following come in as discretionary picks: Anderson Okoro Evans Bird Whittle Wilby Cox I believe the first 6 are pretty much safe, but Whittle can count himself lucky. In terms of the last spot, I was torn between Cox and Hanlon. But given Cox is a finalist candidate I reckon she'll get the nod over Kara. I also think Guy will swim the individual 100 fly in Paris, and only do the 200 free relay.
  8. If you count Evans' heat time, I believe the medley relay is only about 0.50 out, and with all 4 components having hit the OQT at some point this week I expect that to be entered too.
  9. Women's relay misses out automatically by 0.08. They'd be stupid not to take it though.
  10. I do try and ignore him for the most part, but there is a part of me that wants to make a show of him at times. Mind you he does do that himself without anyone needing to respond to him.
  11. But Peaty does need a relay backup... and he's going to get one.
  12. Given that the main objective for these games was to qualify all relays, I'd be surprised if they didn't accept all of them even if we miss the time by a small amount in a couple.
  13. Disappointing from Evans going that slow in the finals, but I reckon they'll take the heat swim more into consideration for the relay which will get her on the team. As for Hanlon, I think this could be curtains for her.
  14. If Blocksidge gets the time then I think Hanlon misses out. If Hanlon also gets the time tonight then I think it's curtains for Cox (unless they're willing to go 1 over the limit).
  15. I still reckon we'd be OK dropping 2 of our main 3. Bird is very much capable of going sub 1.47 and Joe could certainly get close to that.
  16. Given our depth, I still reckon only swimming Guy in the heats would still send us through as the depth we have in this event is crazy + there's not many countries that have 8-10 guys that can go sub 1.48. Dean tends to be alright swimming the relay heats so I reckon they could still go Dean, Guy, Bird and J Litchfield if they wanted to be sure.
  17. Well Jacob would have a job as him and Bird are in 2 different finals. I think it's more practical to take both, as Whittle would be a good reserve for the 100 and Bird would be a good reserve for 200 + can do the 400 as well. Furthermore, I believe Dan Wiffen is his training partner so it could be beneficial for Wiffen, as well as Bird, if he's picked for Paris in the sense that they can push eachother towards the same common goal.
  18. Bird would still be a useful asset in Paris as I don't think the team wouldn't want to swim Dean, Scott and Richards in the heats and a team of Guy, Bird and the Litchfield brothers would easily make the final. I think there's room for both Bird and Whittle, but at the expense of Cox or Hanlon.
  19. Hopefully Hopkin can push Okoro and Anderson tonight to reach 54 territory as she did the former this morning. The concern for me lies with Hindley, Hope and Colbert. I struggle to see either of them getting mid 54. Given her form this week Colbert looks the most likely to do so but it's gonna be extremely tight. Hopefully they do decide to send a relay team if they miss the time by a little bit given Anderson's illness.
  20. He will if he gets top 6 and McMillan or Turkey don't get top 4, they need at least 2 reserves for the relay. If it's a top 4 of Guy, Dean, Richards and Scott then the 2 most likely reserves would be Litchfield and Bird.
  21. I also fear the women's free relay could be in danger tonight. If Hopkin doesn't go sub 53, it'll mean the other 3 qualifiers would have to average a sub 54. Which would be a lot easier if Anderson was up to form.
  22. Brilliant set of 200 free heats, having to go sub 1.48 just to make the final is incredible. McMillan swam way better than I thought he would, he could definitely be a spanner in the works. Although I feel if he doesn't get in the top 4 and Bird gets top 6 they won't take him and will opt for Bird instead as McMillan isn't eligible for any individuals.
  23. Yes. They showed the full list today minus Proud at the start of the broadcast this evening. I think you're also counting the open water swimmers, who don't contribute towards the 30.
  24. So far we have 21 confirmed qualifiers, 18 winners and 3 second places. Greenbank and Evans or Hanlon (even possibly both) will qualify tomorrow, bringing us up to a possible 24. Wilby has also done enough to qualify, giving us 25. That leaves us with 5 spots from the following: Anderson Blocksidge Okoro Whittle Peters Guy Cox Bird Gammon Blocksidge and Okoro likely won't do enough tomorrow, and therefore won't qualify. Despite coming second in the 100 fly, I also don't think Gammon gets in as relay reserve as atm it would be an ineffective use of a spot. I reckon they'll select Anderson for now and see how she is, if she not fully fit then they'll swap her out for Okoro. If she does get picked I reckon they'll give her Colbert's 200 place, but it'll be tough for her to get the 100 (unless Colbert gets that too). All signs point to Whittle getting selected, the men need another 100 free relay reserve with the packed schedules of Dean, Richards and Scott. Whittle being selected means 2 of those 3 can be rested in the heats. The big decision comes with who they take as the 100 fly. The scenario is pretty simple for me, if Guy gets in the 200 free relay then he gets the fly individual and relay reserve, if not then it goes to Peters. They won't take 3 fly swimmers, so it's either one or the other. I reckon Bird just sneakes in. Everyone would be aware of his near miss and there would be some uproar if he doesn't get in. This is one the selectors can't push under the rug as people will be looking out for his name, and I reckon there'll be enough space for him to sneak in ahead of potential relay reserves. In terms of Cox, I think she gets in if there's a space left at the end. There's already plausible relay cover in her place in the form of Harris and Osrin, with the former also being able to swim the individual. I think she barely sneaks in, but it could all come down to Okoro getting in the top 4 of the 100 free and claiming that relay space.
  25. Brilliant way to end of the night, a PB from Wood and a BST from Colbert too. Wood's defo a medal contender at Paris.
