Well, this year is really unlucky for our team. They lost the qualifcation to elite division earlier after losing 2 opening matches, although they played really decent tournament later on. However although our team is probably the strongest we had in a few years I still dont see them on the same level as Slovenia or Denmark, or thhe host Belarus

Well, To be honest the only addition to the olympic games which makes me happy As someone here said, it's much different than other sports plus it's surprisingly really fun to watch

Well, never say never, after all even in basketball the most important team is talent I am sure there finally will be a pretty good, skilled generation of players in Portugal After all, you actually have had a decent team in the past (9th place at Eurobasket 2007), plus a little offtop but in volley where in theory height is very important too you had 8th place at World Championships. I think that the most important thing is to have THAT generation which will "break the curse" plus a good coach to popularize the sport and then any country might be good in any sport for a decent amount of time

Well we managed to beat (theoretically) weaker Portugal. Still I am not sure about our style of play, especially after we lost the 2nd quarter 13-19.

Well, its FIVB/CEV. They always do stuff like that, even in World Championship/ Olympic Games . Instead of standard group draw, they prefer the stupid and outdated serpentine system, which is elementaly flawed - most of the time we have one good group and one weaker group, like in RIO, and then when it comes to decisive matches like quarterfinala the teams from the weaker group are doomed . In this years' olympic games in men's volley we had 4 teams from each group in QF, but only 1 team (Russia) from the weak group A and 3 from the better group B in semifinal. Also the World Rankings are so badly maintained I can't even say... After Euro Championships 2015 Slovenia advanced to 25th place in the WR. then the next edition comes out after this years edition of World League, and Slovenia suddenly drops to 29th place. The strange thing was that according to the official rankings they did not drop, they advanced a few places. So it seems like the ranking is either fundamentally flawed too, or the person respinsible for it can't count

After last few friendlies I have a feeling the tournament will be harder for us than it should be

Yeah, well, I think your expectations were too high I know Polish team is not liked in Bulgaria, I even spoke with some volley-friends abroad, so I think our team generally isn't very much liked by many fans, but in some cases it's mostly a cultural cause - here in Poland we too have teams many people don't like because of Politics etc. I however am a person who doesn't basically have a grudge against any team, however when I think some team cheats/ plays un-fair I am not afraid to say it in any sport, regardless if most people think different, so I realise some of my comments may seem harsh when compared to others tbh The Bulgarian team is not much liked here either after WL finals in 2012 when some Bulgarians throwed stuff at our players during the semi with your team, the same with Russian, German and possibly Iranian team, but well, I just wanna see clear sport

Ok, I understand that, I defended him back in 2013-2014, but I am really disapointed with what happened after WC. I dont know what is wrong, I dont think 4 players leaving would cause such fall in play, Antiga + Blain are a good duo, but they obviously don't know how to reach our guys anymore besides they still commit the same mistakes they did back then - very late substitutions and time outs , being overall too calm, playing all tournaments with badically one team - even tonight, perhaps he SHOULD have screamed at the guys, or even change all of them after second set

Well, I DO NOT by all means suggest anything, but... did someone from IOC security check if all the "eggs" were the same temperature ? and I dont say it cause we got a hard opponent but that i am suspicious towards Russian federation ( sorry Russia fans, not anything against you or your team personally, however one of the important persons in your volley board commented a few weeks ago in the doping scandal that nothing will happen as Russia has " exceptionally good relationship with FiVB" so that seems to me like he silently said "Yes, we are financing FIVB and getting benefits for it") and the event was not broadcast anywhere, at least I don't think so, so it's a bit strange Russia gets possibly the weakest opponent from the remaining 8 teams - not anything towards Canadian team, too
