  1. Crazy that O'Callaghan has more golds than the US. Marchand and Qin both have as many golds (relays excluded) as the whole american team (relays included). Also Tunisia (Hafanoui) and South Africa (Schoenmaker) both with as many medals as Germany and South Korea combined. The Cayman Islands (Crooks) and Hong Kong (Haughey) both with as many individual finals as Spain.
  2. The time isn't terrible for her age, the two girls ahead of her are both 1 year older. She would be 38th in the american all-time rankings for 13/14 year olds. She has until next year to improve on that ranking. For comparison some of the other girls on that list: 2:18.57 Kate Douglass 2:18.42 Summer McIntosh 2:18.21 Kathleen Baker 2:18.20 Sydney Pickrem 2:17.75 Nathalie Coughlin 2:17.64 Maya DiRado 2:17.48 Claire Weinstein 2:17.21 Elizabeth Beisel 2:17.19 Ariana Kukors 2:16.96 Bella Sims 2:16.28 Regan Smith I think her problem is that slovakian coaches don't know how to produce world-class swimmers and by the time that she will be old enough to go to college, it will probably already be too late for her (since she wasted multiple years of development). For her the best would probably to go to Hungary or even GB. Those two nations know how to produce world class swimmers in the IM. Sadly that doesn't seem like a very realistic option for her, unless her parents are rich ...
  3. Thanks. Very promising generation on the women's side for GB and Germany. Romania also has a lot of good talents and Italy is doing a good job on the men's side + Jackl of course has to be mentioned. We might see some of them at the olympics next year already. Especially Blocksidge and Jackl aren't far away.
  4. I think Kamminga will be too old, he was already slower this year than he used to be. This year he was lucky that the level wasn't too high. Especially Martinenghi wasn't at his best. I don't see Peaty competing next year. I think it will be Qin for gold next year and then two younger guys (Martinenghi + X) for silver and bronze. Steenbergen is on a very good trajectory, currently i would only favor O'Callaghan and the second australian (Jack) over her. Schouten could win 2 golds or nothing at all (if Chikunov will (hopefully) still be banned). The 200 breast field looks much weaker right now.
  5. Completely stupid rule. They should have learned during the pandemic that shaking hands is very unsanitary and can lead to the spread of disease. Also if they want to appear like a gentleman's sport, they should maybe punish the athletes for screaming and jumping around after every hit + i don't really have the impression that many athletes have a lot of respect for the referees (especially if they don't judge in their favor).
  6. Does anybody have the results (times) for women's 200 IM?
  7. The Netherlands with as many medals as Germany, Hungary, South Korea, Brazil combined ...
  8. Always knew that he was a great guy. He is an olympic fencing champion after all.
  9. I think you don't understand what the plan is ... They try to become so bad that their funding will be completely cut.
  10. So far everything is going according to plan for german fencing. Hopefully they won't mess it up in the remaining competitions.
  11. Insanely lucky day for me in the swimming prediction contest or maybe it is a miscalculation? Not sure how i was able to make up so much ground in one day.
  12. Interesting that the US has more individual finals in olympic disciplines than France, GB, Canada and Japan combined. Australia has as many individual finals in olympic disciplines as Germany, Italy, Hungary and the Netherlands combined. The Netherlands has as many individual finals in olympic disciplines as South Korea, Brazil and Ukraine combined.
  13. Insane progression by the chinese guy at a relatively high age.
  14. Crazy performance so far. I thought that 1 medal by Schouten would be possible, but now it is already 3 and Korstanje might win one as well. I don't see Kamminga doing anything next year, but the other two could repeat in Paris.
  15. Great 1:44.79 by Märtens in the 200 free. The more i watch swimming the more i realize that it is completely absurd that there are olympic events in different strokes. There should only be freestyle (individual and relays). All other strokes are basically: Let's find out who can swim the fastest while not using the fastest technique possible ... pure insanity.
  16. I thinks it will be very different next year. Different time zone + the american talents will all be more mature. I think both China and Australia will clearly drop off next year.
  17. I am still shocked, but good for you. A shame that you didn't enter the prediction contest.
  18. Interesting that the US only won 3 golds in olympic disciplines so far and 2 of them could have very well only been minor medals. Men's 100 back: Ceccon definitely could have won gold instead of Murphy Women's 200 IM: McIntosh didn't compete and McKeown got disqualified. I think that they could get to 8 golds in olympic disciplines, but i don't see them getting to 10+ golds.
  19. I remember that there was a thread where people could predict who will be the youngest competitor of their nation at the olympics. Does anyone know what happened to that thread (i couldn't find it)?
  20. I call out all cheaters the same, doesn't matter where they are from (for example Jack from Australia, Sun Yang from China or Paula Radcliffe from GB). Sorry that i don't want to be part of your cheap agenda where it is only allowed to criticize certain nations.
  21. So much doping in China (1.4 billion people) and Russia (150 million people), yet they never came close to the dominance of Australia (30 million people) ...
  22. Australian women with a world record in every event, just like that ...
  23. Also only the 6th most individual finals in olympic disciplines among european nations so far: France: 10 GB: 8 Germany/Netherlands/Hungary: 6 Italy: 5
