    This year Gaudreau broke the USA men's career goals and points records in world championship play. When so many top guys skip worlds after the NHL season, have to give him credit for showing up year after year. Likely would have made his Olympic debut in 2026.

    China's selection policies as their written rule it out (last trials meet is before his ban ends and they're saying they won't put anyone on the team who has served a doping ban, though I suppose the latter could be legally challenged). But it is China, so you never know.
