Hope he didn't hurt himself... Riders eliminated today can go forward in the competition, with highest score of the riders that have completed the course + 20 points of penalty. The scores are not cleared before the final so it would not make much sense for him to carry on, given the good scores of the rest of the team

No selection for teams today, they all do tomorrow's round. The two scores are added and the top 10 goes to the team final on day 3.

Good thing with qualifying only one horse for the individual final is that we will have 3 fresh horses for the team competition

Nz Meech barely qualifies with 2 time penalties . Really don't like this one round for qualification. I don't see the appeal of separating individual and team qualifiers. Tv already only shows finals

It's tradition to have a fence from the previous Olympics on the course (usually the first fence?).

Awesome clear from Karim Laghouag, who is only competing due to 3 withdrawals in team France! Overall a great cross country for the team with only 2 points added.

Beautiful rides from team GB. 18 points ahead of Australia and France, it would be a huge upset if they don't get gold tomorrow.

Live results briefly showed the fall for Collett so I had a few seconds of shock . Here goes my unexpected shake up.

Given they already used their substitution I don't even think they can compete in the jumping phase as a team?

First big scores are starting to pile but I don't think we will get the expected shake up among top nations from this course. Time isn't tight, not super technical, the ride seems pretty straight forward with the right options.

If I understood the new rules correctly, there is no penalty for substitution in dressage?

God French eventing can't catch a breath ?. Our best couple, Thomas Carlile and Birmane had to withdraw. Reserve Karim Laghouag and Triton Fontaine will replace them.

Victoria Max-Theurer has withdrawn due to dental problems on her horse Abegglen NRW. Austria had selected reserves but they didn't travel to Tokyo, so their dressage team is withdrawn.

French team decided not to present Hot Chocolat (Isabelle Pinto) tomorrow for a new inspection so we don't have a reserve anymore.

Thank you, article I read was unclear. So the non-travelling reserve replaces the travelling reserve.

Withdrawal in jumping : Jeunesse (Yves Vanderhasselt) is injured. They are replaced by the reserve couple Pieter Devos and Claire Z but Belgium is down to 3.

But quarantine has already started and it doesn't seem like they quarantined more horses than necessary. They didn't even have a traveling reserve. Some countries that have quarantined reserves for the individual competition could step up on such short notice (Italy? Canada?). Not sure how that would work with qualification processes. Would be fun if Canada who were disqualified because of cocain, finally got to Tokyo thanks to cocain
