  1. Everything is going perfectly for in Group II. Still, they have to actually win their matches against and to get to the Final4, but they are definitely the favorites now for that spot.
  2. The strange thing is that we still have a very clear path into the Top6. We "just" have to beat and . Because the rest of the matches have an obvious outcome in that group: will beat both and , I don't have much doubt about that. and will most likely beat So if everything goes as expected, we can jump over Sweden and Slovenia if we beat both of them. But the issue is that we have to play at the very least as well as we did against Denmark... It's a very slight chance, but at least it's not impossible.
  3. If only our girls could consistently play like did today... One more defeat, but this one was very promising for the future, maybe there's still hope. I mean, there isn't much hope for anything at this ECh, that went away with that match against Croatia, but for next year's WCh we need what we saw today. That way there's a chance for an Olympic quota.
  4. Hoping for a good start of the season. As @phelps said, every point counts. Our goal is to qualify at least 3 teams and at least one fencer in every discipline to Paris2024. The latter would be a big deal because I can't even remember when was the last time we qualified a fencer in men's foil. But we definitely have a chance now. Obviously men's epee, men's sabre and women's sabre are the most important as those are our strongest teams, all three have to make it to Paris2024.
  5. That win pretty much secures a Top8 placement for and also a very likely spot at the OQT. Their best ECh ever and also best performance at any major tournament since the 2003 Worlds.
  6. Predictable preliminary round for the most part, is the only nation that went into the Top12 over a "higher ranked" nation. But over isn't that surprising at all, it's more surprising that they already got 2 points in the main round. My guess for the SFs is... v v The Dutch can reach the Top4 if they beat Montenegro, that match will be very intense/close.

  8. That sucks so much, I was hoping Senegal would achieve something great at this World Cup...
  9. Montenegro is looking very strong right now at home. I wouldn't even be surprised if they win a medal at this ECh, which might even be enough for a direct Olympic qualification if the final is between France and Norway and Norway qualifies to Paris at the WCh.
  10. will all be there, I would be surprised if one of them messes up the qualification. should also make it, but Spain is having a rough start here. If the 8 listed above all predictably qualify, there will be one more spot for the Europeans. Which would go to Russia under normal circumstances. I don't know... maybe ? Or ? Or ? Or us, somehow? Who knows which team avoids injuries and be in top form one and a half years from now.
  11. Yes, if is in the Top4, which they certainly will be. Unless there are some major surprises maybe even the 8th place here secures an OQT spot. The fact that we are missing both France and Russia from the Olympic qualification severely limits how this can play out. I would say that the biggest winners of this ECh appear to be who might secure their OQT participation here. If they beat Croatia, I think they are in.
  12. Told ya @CCB, the second SF spot behind hasn't been decided yet. 4 pts 2 pts 2 pts 2 pts 2 pts 0 pts Looks kinda interesting, things can get messy if our girls wake up and steal at least one point from Sweden or Denmark. (But yeah, the more likely scenario is that we will lose all three matches)
  13. Elvesztettük a Liu testvéreket. Ezzel gyakorlatilag ezt a topikot be lehet zárni, az aranykorszaknak vége. A közeljövőben nem lesz magyar érem a téli olimpiai játékokon.
  14. Also this is a very obvious sign: Hungarian sport is dying. The entire country is dying, Orbán has run to the ground and that will have consequences. We won't be able to sustain our sport because we aren't even able to sustain our own country. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if more Hungarian athletes will change nationality, we have lost the Liu brothers in short track and Rapport in chess, this feels like only the beginning. Honestly, @heywoodu, watch out for Vas changing nationality in a few years because Hungarian cycling will be one of the earliest to go down. And that's just an example.
  15. Well, it was good while it lasted, the Liu brother will chance their nationality, they won't race under the flag anymore. It's not official which country they will chose, but it's pretty obvious that finally got them. I honestly thought that this will happen before Beijing 2022, so I am just glad that we had them for this long and won 2 gold medals with them. It is what it is, Hungarian short track will never ever be as successful as it was with them. I doubt that we will see any Hungarian medals at the Winter Games in the near future. Edit: Congrats @Vic Liu, you will have an even stronger short track team if they will indeed go to your country.
  16. I just realized something: IHF fucked up massively by not having 9-12th place playoff. The 9th placed team will almost certainly qualify for the OQT, possibly even the 10th or 11th placed teams. Those places should be decided via playoffs. Instead now it will kinda come down to luck between the the four third placed teams in the four main round groups. That's not how OQT spots should be decided.
  17. Hát, sajnos beigazolódott az, amit sokan mondtak az Eb előtt: ez az (egyik?) leggyengébb női kézilabda válogatott a magyar kézilabdázás történetében. Ebből így nehezen lesz párizsi kvóta...
  18. SWEvDEN was always going to be the match that decides which team makes it to the Final4 behind Norway and I think that remains true. Denmark can still beat Sweden and have a good chance to make it to the semis. As for us... it's over. 3 more defeats are coming up against much stronger teams than Croatia, Slovenia is only one who we can realistically beat, but our girls are mentally defeated. Our best player, Klujber was a wreck after yesterday's match, the Hungarian coach plainly said that our chances of reaching our goal (Top8) are almost certainly gone. It has to said that we are very clearly not one of the favorites to reach Paris2024 at this point, the team hit rock bottom. If the draw wouldn't be favorable, we wouldn't even be in the Top12 at this ECh.
  19. I think having the final in March won't be an issue. The only thing you should watch out for is that the first half of March is kinda busy with many winter sport events. March 18-19 is the last busy weekend of the winter sport season, it's probably better to have the final after that (March 25-26 for example)
  20. No kidding, when I first listened to the song, I was like: "Yep, that's the winner." But I am so rarely right about the TISC winner that I thought I will be wrong again. I guess I am getting better predicting the contest.
  21. Congrats , this win was due. As was the Top10 placements for and . Pretty great results in the context of the history of the contest. I would like to thank everyone who voted for the Hungarian song. Kinda mediocre result for us considering that we went with a mainstream song this time. Maybe I should go back to experimenting. Or maybe I should just push the Irish emergency button. If you can't beat them, join them!
  22. Huh, so this really was the Europeans year at TISC. Full European podiums in TISC history. Open 2013 - 1st 2nd 3rd Annual 2014 - 1st 2nd 3rd Annual 2015 - 1st 2nd 3rd Open 2015 - 1st 2nd 3rd Annual 2016 - 1st 2nd 3rd Annual 2022 - 1st 2nd 3rd Open 2022 - 1st 2nd 3rd Seems like this was the norm at the start of the contests, then (between 2016 and 2021) the rest of the world had one or more nations on the podium all the time. Now it's back to full European podiums.
  23. HUNGARY "MAGYARORSZÁG" "MAĎARSKO" 1st ISRAEL 12 2nd NEW ZEALAND 11 3rd SPAIN 10 4th PORTUGAL 9 5th GREAT BRITAIN 8 6th INDIA 7 7th UKRAINE 6 8th SWEDEN 5 9th SLOVAKIA 4 10th SERBIA 3 11th GREECE 2 12th CROATIA 1 Thank you all for a great contest! See ya next year in Spain and France!
