  1. Yes, Italy will only send 1 50m pistol athlete oppose to 2.
  2. Nations are allowed to make one trade. Usually a trade happens because an athlete qualified in two events thus they have an extra quota, but that is not the case for Italy. I'm guessing they really wanted a rapid fire pistol athlete and were willing to give up a quota.
  3. I know it was mentioned in parts, but here are the traded quotas based on the update. Egypt (women’s 50m rifle 3 positions to men’s trap) India (men’s 50m rifle 3 positions to men’s trap) Italy (men’s 50m pistol to men’s 25m rapid fire pistol) Kazakhstan (men’s trap to women’s trap) South Korea (men’s 10m air pistol to women’s 10m air rifle) Qatar (men’s 50m rifle 3 positions to men’s skeet) Russia (women’s 10m air pistol to women’s skeet) Slovenia (women’s 10m air pistol to women’s 10m air rifle) Sweden (women’s 10m air rifle to men’s double trap) Switzerland (women’s 10m air rifle to men’s 50m rifle 3 positions) China and Germany also traded quotas, but they also declined a quota. Regardless China has lost an athlete quota in men’s 50m pistol and women’s 50m rifle 3 positions and gained an athlete quota in men’s 50m rifle prone. Similarly Germany lost quotas in men’s 50m rifle 3 positions and women’s 10m air rifle and gained an athlete quota in women’s 25m pistol.
  4. Some stats. In this update 29 quotas were given out, 25 tripartite, 2 reallocated quotas from continental championships and 2 reallocated quotas which were declined (one from China and Germany). Seven were given to non-tripartite nations, meaning three tripartite quotas weren't allocated to tripartite nations. Unsurprsingly Netherlands has declined a quota which should have been given to them. The next nations in line for a declined quota are Armenia (15), Morocco (13), South Africa (13) and Latvia (11).
  5. I'll need to do some counting, but I think the nations that got two wild cards got 1 from the tripartite and 1 from reallocation. Bolivia has 5 MQS athletes so did any nation that should have gotten a reallocation didn't?
  6. Again the reallocated quota would go to Amro El Geziry. The continental qualifiers have priority over the world rankings.
  7. Yes, reallocated quotas from continental qualifiers stay within the continental qualifier (other denied quotas are reallocated to the world rankings). However, if Eslam Hamad is not selected the quota will be reallocated to Amro El Geziry so everything will be fine (no Mauritius athlete will compete).
  8. Canada is going to choke a 2-0 lead, aren't they?
  9. Yeah hopefully Canada takes this good performance and uses it to win tomorrow (today in Japan).
  10. Hopefully we have a decent performance against Poland. One of our biggest matches will be tomorrow against Iran. We'll have to defeat either Iran or Japan to have a chance at qualifying.
  11. While Kosovo is undeserving I feel the tripartite commission will be kind to it since this will be its first Olympics. I can see it also getting spots in archery and shooting (plus the usual athletics and swimming).
  12. I thought Solomon Islands would be a near-lock for a tripartite quota, but the Marshall Islands girl has placed a convincing argument. I wish there were more tripartite quotas available in weightlifting it's a sport quite popular among "tripartite nations."
  13. Looks like Solomon Islands didn't do as well as the rankings in the entry list had them. This most likely means they will be the odd nation out in the women's events.
  14. The rule was in place to prevent dominant nations from Africa/Asia/Pan America from taking all of the quotas. The scenario you see with Belgium is a bit of an exception to what World Rowing wanted to achieve, but at the same time it is unfair to Egypt/China/Japan/Brazil etc. if European nations can have an additional opportunity to qualify in both single sculls and lightweight double sculls. I guess the best scenario for next time would be to have a separate qualifying event so we can avoid this confusion or remove the European continental qualifiers and just have it open to all nations.
  15. Don't worry guys like Isner are exceptions. I do hope they relax the Davis/Fed cup requirements, that's what's hurting the field.
  16. Germany can’t get the tripartite quota since it isn’t a tripartite nation, but should the quota not be allocated the reallocation rule is a bit vague. The rule says it would go to the next highest ranked athlete from the AOB, but the women’s events don’t have an AOB tournament. The most logical way to do this is to give it to the athlete whom finishes fifth at the world championship. With that said IMO it doesn’t look good for Germany.
  17. Quite happy for us in quad sculls there were a lot of strong nations competing.
  18. You need a minimum of 10 points to compete in mountain biking. Does he have that?
  19. I agree. One spot will likely go to Nauru (or Kiribati should one of their lifters fail). Assuming the previous report of tripartite quotas being true (3 quotas available for Oceania/Pan America) then things will get tough Micronesia, Palau and Tuvalu will be the most likely nations fighting for two spots. The results in the -62kg may be the deciding factor.
  20. That's only for the continental portion (single sculls and lightweight double sculls)
