  1. I wouldn’t put it past Bach.
  2. I know a lot of people on this forum like Karate, but for me of all the additional sports this is the one I'm least keen on seeing again.
  3. This format manages to be both boring *and* incredibly cruel to the athletes.
  4. Derek Drouin is doing it wrong, that's where he should be chasing the Olympic standard.
  5. I trust you over the IWF at this point.
  6. The round robin is the final. Basically the top 4 meet in a round robin, and the top 3 from the round robin qualify to the Olympics. I do not endorse this format.
  7. In past years they were decided at the games. I don’t remember if that’s still the case this year.
  8. I actually feel like Dabrowski and whoever in mixed doubles is the best chance for a medal.
  9. The first athletes on the United States team have been selected: Alison Gibson and Krysta Palmer will compete in the women's 3m synchro. After 10 of 15 dives they are first and third in the individual 3m event.
  10. Canada needs someone in the women's -70kg, -78kg or +78kg to compete in the team event.
  11. Hosting another games in Vancouver 20 years later isn't exciting (and it sure hurts the chances of Canada hosting the summer games for quite a while), but from the IOC's POV it's hard for me to see a better bid than Vancouver or Calgary for 2030. It's a safe pair of hands, most of the venues are already there and it doesn't run into the issue of the country just having hosted (which is why I'm not bullish on Salt Lake City 2030 as anything other than a last resort).
  12. Ya, I am very worried about what the IOC will do to those sports.
  13. Adding monobob also doesn't solve the gender imbalance, at all.
  14. I've toyed around with formats for mixed team events in half-pipe, slopestyle and big air. I think they would be great, and I think everyone else on this forum would absolutely hate them xD
  15. I, for one, welcome our mixed doubles moguls team event with open arms (especially if it's the four athlete variation rather than the two athlete variation). I've always thought a team event was the best way to add dual moguls to the Olympics.
  16. The FIS will almost certainly propose a mixed dual moguls team event for 2026.
  17. My super hot take is that I welcome more mixed team events (for events that don’t have and can’t easily gave single gender team events).
  18. It’s really not much more egregious than some of the biathlon events tbh.
  19. And one year apart. Assuming Deguchi continues we’ll have the same problem in 2024.
  20. Ya, I definitively understand how bitter this must feel. She sacrificed quite a bit to represent Canada specifically to compete in Tokyo. I don’t think Klimkait would have had much of a chance under the original selection plan. However, ultimately, how do you not send the defending world champion when worlds were less than two months before the Olympics? It just really sucks that Canada has two world champions *ever* in Judo and they fight in the same weight class and are one year apart.
  21. I don’t read Japanese but if the automatic translation is accurate she is not taking this well at all. https://twitter.com/10cmd29/status/1402309648758284295?s=21
  22. That doesn’t even make any sense unless Klimkait also beats Tamaoki.
  23. In judo qualification is by name, not by country.
  24. This also means Canada can't enter the (somewhat comical, but who knows, could have been a medal chance) team event. We are missing a woman at -70, -78 or +78.
