    Same, I went from ecstatic with bronze in the 4x100m free to annoyed we didn't get silver in the 4x200m free to devastated we didn't win a medal in the medley relay. I don't think anyone seriously believed Canada would get six medals, including a gold and two relays, in swimming. I was hopping for one to three and maybe one relay.

    So, who predicted the Argentinian men to make the finals and the Argentinian women to crash and burn in the quarters?

    I can see why Drouin does well in big events. He seems totally imune to presure.

    I mean, I had since she was sort of the star of the trials. But I had not heard much of her before the trials (only heard about her because of Taylor Ruck, who was seen as a bigger potential breakout star a year ago).

    Apparently Mandy Bujold was sick last night, lost two kilos in water weight and went straight to the venue from the hospital this morning. Sounds like she was pretty unlucky there :/

    What a terrible performance by Canada. Conceding a penalty in incredibly sloppy fashion (it was such a stupid tackle) and not taking any of the opprtunities presented. Well played Germany, they are the much stronger side mentally.

    Barber not looking good in his first attempt at 5.65m. Edit: his second wasn't much better. Not looking like he's in form.

    I reslly don't understamd why Cavendish wasn't relegated from the point race. The crash he caused was entirely avoidable.

    Canada has the biggest Ukrainian diaspora outside of Ukraine, so a lot of Canadians (especially Western Canadians) have Eastern-European family names and ancestry from what is now Ukraine.

    They've been unlucky in general, but not in the vault finals. Karmakar's Produnova was clearly a fall and it was quite generously marked all things considered.

    Ya, her javelin was aweful.

    Theisen Eaton on 5681 points after her first javelin attempt, which puts her ahead of Jones and Johnson-Thompson.

    They will have a playoff for any medal position, not just gold.

    I knew Oleksiak was good from her performance in the trials. "Maybe a relay medal and an individual medal if she's lucky and she'll be great in 2020" good. I never expected her to do so well. She's exceded all expectations, and she still has the medley relay left (and at this point, who knows what Canada will do). Simone Manuel also swam way over expectation. Such an unlikely result, this was a race for the ages.

    I was glad to see her win her gold after so many silver and bronze medals at worlds / Olympics. It was s great race, too.

    Incredible Olympics by Oleksiak and Ruck. The sky is the limit for these two.
