    Alright, that really snuck up on me (I don't follow weightlifting). I was aware she was a medal possibility due to her qualification ranking but I didn't realize she had a decent shot at gold. Frankly I never expected Canada to ever win gold again in that sport.

    Does anyone has a good idea on the form Maude Charron (weightlifting)? According to ESPN5 (the Philipino version of ESPN) she has the best PB of anyone entered in her weight class by 2KG.

    I doubt any of these happens, but lets go big: 1. Canada wins gold in a team sport (literally any of them) for the first time since 1920. 2. Canada wins gold in a swimming relay for the very first time. 3. No more COVID

    TBH given Saudi Arabia and Israel are unofficially sort of chill at the moment I doubt this will cause too many issues.

    Some clutch pitching from Goto, but this Japanese team looks very beatable.

    The Australian team is definitively on a decline, tbh I'm not even sure they are a favourite to make the bronze medal match.

    It was more a base running error than a strategic one IMO. She potentially would have forced an interference call if she didn’t try running around the catcher.

    Agreed. I think the Brisbane bid is great, and that they will host great Olympics, but this new bidding process lacks transparency and is rife for corruption.

    I actually think it's good for the IOC to show that they will accept a good bid from a "secondary" city. Brisbane is going to host great games, who cares that they aren't a major world city?

    This looks like an excellent street course. Full marks to the IOC, they are really good at creating venues for X-Games style events now.

    The batters are completely wearing down Dallas Escobedo. 100 pitches and she isn’t even out of the 4th inning. The Canadian batters are doing an amazing job extending their at bats.

    Combination of Italy pitching well and the US not being great on offense. US was great on defense though.

    Softball is actually quite fast pace as far as bat and ball sports go.

    Despite what the IOC might think softball is not women’s baseball and baseball is not men’s softball. TBH as long as MLBers aren’t involves I’d rather see men’s softball in the Olympics over men’s baseball.
