  1. Considering Pendrel crashed in the first lap I'm not quite sure I agree Grest performance from Pendrel to come back from being way back to grab a medal.
  2. Canada in 2012 was DQed due to stepping on the line on a bend. It's different than stepping on a straight.
  3. Lets not go through this again. Also, stepping on a line on a bend is very different than stepping on a line on a straight.
  4. No matter what happens now I think these games have been a big success for Canada. Four gold medals, including one in athletics and one in swimming, is more than expected It's all gravy from now. Who knows, might be a lot of gravy.
  6. Wiebe salvalging (and the some) these Olympics for Wrestling Canada. Makes up for the otherwise disapointing performance in wrestling. She did get a bit lucky with so many big names being taken out for her, but all you can do is beat the people in front of you (she never looked threatened at all in the finals). These are turning into the best summer games for Canada since Barcelona.
  7. Honestly from the angles I saw I couldn't tell which of Kenny or Awang should have been disqualified.
  8. Same, I went from ecstatic with bronze in the 4x100m free to annoyed we didn't get silver in the 4x200m free to devastated we didn't win a medal in the medley relay. I don't think anyone seriously believed Canada would get six medals, including a gold and two relays, in swimming. I was hopping for one to three and maybe one relay.
  9. So, who predicted the Argentinian men to make the finals and the Argentinian women to crash and burn in the quarters?
  10. I can see why Drouin does well in big events. He seems totally imune to presure.
  11. I mean, I had since she was sort of the star of the trials. But I had not heard much of her before the trials (only heard about her because of Taylor Ruck, who was seen as a bigger potential breakout star a year ago).
  12. Incredible by Drouin. Perfect competition.
  13. Apparently Mandy Bujold was sick last night, lost two kilos in water weight and went straight to the venue from the hospital this morning. Sounds like she was pretty unlucky there :/
  14. What a terrible performance by Canada. Conceding a penalty in incredibly sloppy fashion (it was such a stupid tackle) and not taking any of the opprtunities presented. Well played Germany, they are the much stronger side mentally.
  15. The streak ends at 9 days boys and girls.
  16. Barber not looking good in his first attempt at 5.65m. Edit: his second wasn't much better. Not looking like he's in form.
  17. I reslly don't understamd why Cavendish wasn't relegated from the point race. The crash he caused was entirely avoidable.
  18. Canada has the biggest Ukrainian diaspora outside of Ukraine, so a lot of Canadians (especially Western Canadians) have Eastern-European family names and ancestry from what is now Ukraine.
  19. They've been unlucky in general, but not in the vault finals. Karmakar's Produnova was clearly a fall and it was quite generously marked all things considered.
  20. Surely this is the best team table tennis tie in Olympic history.
  21. Both our boxers that fought today out, too (so Mandy is the only one left).
  22. Barber clears 5.60m on his first attempt. Go figure.
