  1. Looks like CBC is streaming multiple courts, at least on badminton and tennis. Not all of them, but a couple... I'm guessing the ones Canadians will be on
  2. It's a very slow and short arrangement... at least the familiar part
  3. Anyone else having issues with the replays on the Gem app? On FireTV it won't let you rewind or fast forward, you can only watch the entire thing straight thru. No such problem with their websites, just on the app
  4. Will be interesting where this ends. Indications are the FIFA is massively pissed. IOC is obviously pissed... and Priestman and/or the CSA burned their one ally in COC yesterday. David Shoemaker publicly went to bat for her yesterday, after presumably getting assurances, and a day later turns out those assurances were lies and made him look like a fool.
  5. I'm not sure how often that line of thinking would happen... but I wouldn't be surprised if they used the drone footage in team film sessions
  6. Hard to say, there is always some complaining about the food and living quarters It can't possibly be worse than Sochi, at least the plumbing seems to be operational
  7. Not really their prerogative, but maybe the investigations will answer that I'm certainly curious about Christine Sinclair's thoughts are about all this
  8. The whole thing just screams of Herdman. Not just doing it, but formalizing and systematizing it. And he was the architect of the women's program for close to a decade then spent several years doing the same on with the men. Priestman is one of his alcolytes, as are most of the senior people with both national teams and technical staff. And they all knew it was wrong and kept on doing it even after he left. The low level people might be able to get away with saying their boss made them do it, but there are layers of senior people who knew, knew it was wrong, and kept on doing it, and they all need to go
  9. The IOC's stated goal is 5,250 of each... they're getting close. In Tokyo there were only 501 more males... in Rio is was 1,120... 20 years ago it was almost 2,000 We'll see what the final numbers are, but I bet they're within 100-200
  10. The women have a spying scandal... the men have a game that seemingly ended with projectiles and a pitch storming after a last second tying goal, THEN have the teams callled back hours later for VAR to nullify the goal to an empty stadium Soccer is a complete fiasco already and it barely started
  11. I kinda doubt this is something only started recently. Stuff like this has Herdman's fingerprints all over it (hell, the men's team was accused of it in 2021 after he took over that program). I'd bet they were doing it before Priestman even got there. Not that that absolves Priestman. She would have known and continued it.
  12. Won't hear me defend the picks for Tokyo. Their hands were tied to a point, but I don't feel much need to rationalize them either
  13. De Grasse was always my first pick for the guys (assuming he was in Paris already). Can't argue with Charon. With the swimmers not attending I was thinking Black, but makes sense to go with a gold medalist
  14. Watching Rugby 7's... almost forgot how nice it was to watch Olympics with a crowd
  15. A couple weeks ago I posted I figured we had potential for 28-29 with our lineup... since then the only real changes effecting that have been LePage pulling out, and McIntosh withdrawing from the 200free... so I'll amend it to 27
  16. Looks like FIFA will investigate. Will be interesting how thorough it is. I'd wager this is something we've been doing regularly since Herdman's days with the women. The men's team were accussed of it during his tenure there too. Probably been standard operating procedure for a decade. Whether we get a full house cleaning, or if FIFA is content with a notable sacrificial lamb or two
  17. Those dirty, stinkin', cheatin' Canadians are at it again
  18. Might tune in a bit tomorrow during the day, but I'm not staying up all night unless a Canadian is involved!
  19. The Gem app now has their Paris 2024 section live as well!
  20. I think it has more to do with how many rooms the NOC's have booked and how many people they can accommodate within them. More of a cost thing than an IOC thing
  21. For the other Fire TV users, they don't have it on the Gem app yet, but the ICI TOU.TV app has their Olympic section up and it looks pretty good. Navigation has a couple more options than last time. I can't imagine the English one wouldn't be the same structure. Things seem to be well organized. Uses the Paris 2024 pictograms heavily, which are a bit esoteric for broad consumption, but they always include the event name with them. Here's hoping it works as well as it looks
