  1. Dak couldn't do anything before they traded for Cooper. He doesn't really make players around him better. The likes of Brady & Brees have worked with second-tier guys for years and put up numbers but Jerry had to bring Cooper to take their passing game off emergency. They will pay him and the one affected by all of this could be Byron Jones who walks in free agency after the season and they draft another DB high in 2020 draft. Of course they can franchise tag Jones too and delay the thing. Tyrone Crawford will almost certainly be gone after this season. Robert Quinn is basically a one-year rental anyway.

    You're just jealous, yay Stepanek fa0pdj.gif fa0pdj.gif

Well, he married aka wrecked Nicole Vaidisova's career which some people will never forgive him :p  Well, they got married twice now, sadly Nicole's mentality was never her strong suit when she was playing. And she never played Maria Sharapova which would have been a marketing man's wet dream in the previous decade.

I wonder how much of that is actually true and how much is what fans think every time they see two people together :p Same kind of thing with the stories from the Olympic villages :d

I'm quite into tennis and then-16yo Laura Robson gave a pretty clear indication about some of her female colleagues back in 2010 already.

But she herself admitted she had a crush on Marat Safin too :p

Wait, wasn't she dating Kyrgios at least still last month? Or was that officially an 'on and off relationship' which in the real world one would call being fuckbuddies or friends with benefits which might be a bit too 'indecent' for public figures? :p

Kyrgios is definitely in the OFF part now ;) Most of these tennis players are friends with benefits tbh but of course the biggest womanizer of them all Radek Stepanek has retired now

I agree, but it's worth mentioning something more about that games. For Polish fans most memorable event from Montreal is of course winning final of men's volleybal against USSR. But there is also last olympic medal of our not only athletics but all-sport legend Irena Kirszenstein-Szewinska. She got gold in 400m and it's our only medal in this distance to this day (in men's 400m we have one bronze). In Montreal we got first medal in modern pentathlon (Janusz Pyciak-Peciak) and first gold in wrestling (Kazimierz Lipien). Sadly we also got last gold in boxing (Jerzy Rybicki) - the discipline which give us most medals of all events except athletics. For me worth mentioning is also bronze of our men's handball team - our only olympic medal in handball. Also what a great time when losing in olympic football final was consider as failure ;)

Unfortunately I'm too young to remember that Olympics so for me the best are Atlanta and Sydney. Of course in 1996 we had more medals and more gold medals than in 2000 but I'm a little sentimental about Sydney. First of all I always was big fan of Robert Korzeniowski (my avatar) and he won two golds in Sydney (in Atlanta one). I will never forget a TV interview with him during which he heard statement about disqualification of Mexican Segura (who finished first at 20km walk) for running. We had four golds in athletics which never happened before or after - two more in hammer throws. It was begin of Polish era in hammer (not domination yet but still). Second gold of Renata Mauer in shooting (rifle), first of Robert Sycz and Tomasz Kucharski in rowing (LM2x) which they defened in Athens. For me is also first time I was watching canoe slalom and field hockey (we had a team at the olympics in that time!) and I love both of them.

Winter is of course Sochi, as Monzanator wrote. I'll just add that at WOG we have seven gold medals in our history and four of them are from Sochi. That is... well, I can't find the right word :d

I'm not old enough to remember Montrea 1976 either but I remember Legien & Wronski from Seoul 1988. Barcelona 1992 of course had Korzeniowski DQ in the stadium gate but I most remember Skrzypaszek's modern pentathlon gold for whatever reason. Atlanta was nuts, we had 3 golds in GR wrestling plus Renata Mauer after the German choked the gold away in the last round IIRC.

  6. Osaka bounced in R4 by Bencic.

Meanwhile Julia Goerges has 21 aces and wins the W/UE battle vs Donna Vekic and still chokes the match away on a bad smash. Blew MP in 2nd set too. Epic WTA choke right there.

  7. Poland won 7 golds at four different Olympics and historically the best is Montreal 1976 when we had 26 medals - second most only to the Moscow boycott so that one doesn't really count.

For the post-communism era (also Soviet block collapse and all that) the best is Atlanta 1996 by far.

The worst? Outside of the two post-war OG when Poland was still in the gutter, the worst must be 2004 Athens. Only 10 medals in total, our worst total since Melbourne 1956. But in Beijing, London & Rio we only won 11 medals total so it's nothing to write home about.

Winter Games is much easier: best is 2014 Sochi, 4 golds & six total. Worst? Pick anything! Prior to Salt Lake City 2002 we've won medals at only three WOG - 1956, 1960 & 1972. The worst is probably Albertville 1992 - we had ONE top 10 finish all games - 8th in nordic combined

In 2015 and 2016 she peaked at the world championships and the olympics and in 2017 she was injured. I am optimistic that she will be in top shape in Doha, but of course this will be the first time that she will be the favorite and everyone in Germany expects her to win gold, so we don't know how she will deal with a situation like that.

It's all about expectations. Being a medal contender is one thing, being a gold medal favorite is something else.

Marcel Hirscher is most likely going to announce his immediate retirement Wednesday :yikes:

He has invited all kinds of media for a press conference and the title of it suggests it's to announce the end of his career.

That was speculated after last year's World Champs since he like completely forgot how to ski in late February & March. He could have made his mind up back then already. And let's face it, despite all his wins and medals, he can't compete with the likes of Klammer or Maier for national icon status.

And Serena. Because we all have to see Serena win her super exciting matches 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-2 and so on (with luckily more and more exceptions nowadays) and so whatever they do, Eurosport will show it.

McNally actually took a set away from her. Seems like another case of Serena blowing a set here & there to some teens or minnows b4 someone really whacks up her from QF onwards.
