  1. Klosterhalfen could have a back-up career in ski jumping... but she's probably too tall for that anyway
  2. Since when professional sport is about health? It NEVER is about health. Besides, let's face it, you have ZERO chance of success in hammer if your weight is 110 lbs or something. Just watch heptathlon and some women struggling in shot put & javelin. Meanwhile the likes of Skujyte may finish bottom five in the hurdles sprint but she dominates the shot put with ease.
  3. As it turns out Rafal Augustyn had to walk extra 2km lap because the officials fucked up his lap count. His final result was classified without the unneccessary lap though (13th). Artur Brzozowski who finished 22nd had the last lap bell ring twice and flat out refused to continue. After a delay the officials checked their sheets and agreed he has actually finished the race. This is a complete disaster of World Championships. I know race walking is stuck at the very bottom of the charts but this is pure amateur crap. I hope IAAF enjoys the money Qatar paid to host this shit show. I just can't wait for the World Cup boredom in 2022. Money can't buy you class.
  4. These champs won't be as good for as some of the previous ones. Medal in W Hammer was kinda expected even though Wlodarczyk is missing. But I thought Kopron will get it rather than Fiodorow who set PB. Haratyk probably won't recover from the finger swelling that plagued him over the last few weeks so I expect Top 8 at best. Bukowiecki is a mental mess, he will probably bomb out one way or another. Kszczot looks fragile, he keeps complaining about the spike to the Achilles during national champs. The biggest surprise which won't be a surprise is probably Marcin Lewandowski in 1500. This will be another slow race with a sprint finish so he could get among the Africans & Ingebrigtsen and steal a medal. Men's Hammer and Women's 4x400 relay are safer bets for a medal. I don't see us winning more than 5 medals in total with Men's Hammer probably the only gold possible.
  5. Well, these champs have been pretty horrible for the hosts. Van Vleuten & van der Breggen basically own the women's cycling these days.
  6. Marathons just don't have the same status as sprints, that's the way it goes. The East African dominance is so big most of the world doesn't care anymore either. And now we have Kenyans & Ethiopians representing other countries as well. It's a battle no teacher from Canada can win regardless if there's a state funding or not tbh.
  7. East Africa is hardly non-traditional when it comes to middle & long distance running though. It rather shows how weak the marathon field was if a 41yo teacher could still get a Top 10. Marathons at these WChamps are second-tier anyway. I bet everyone wants to win New York, Chicago or Berlin rather than a gold medal in Doha tbh.
  8. Yeah, I bet Dunfee wishes all the African countries were banned from World Champs. There's always a huge contempt towards the Third World countries. This entitement bullshit needs to stop but of course it won't.
  9. Awarding these champs to Qatar has been a complete blunder to begin with. Indoor sports could barely stick with air conditioning but what else do you expect from athletics of all things? Of course it would be a war of attrition in marathons & race walking.
  10. Well, seems like German people also use stereotypes Obviously hammer throwers wouldn't stand a chance of winning Miss Universe
  11. Racing during the day would be even more exhausting tbh. But hey, the football World Cup will be held in December and they will play at night too
  12. Welcome to the new oh-so politically correct world. People get offended by anything! Don't you love this shit?
  13. Coleman wins! Yawn. 9,76 Gatlin with silver, meh! DeGrasse 3rd is cool!
  14. Man, we miss those blue DDR jerseys, are we?
  15. Top 10 Men's Long Jump all-time 8,95 Mike Powell 8,90 Bob Beamon 8,87 Carl Lewis 8,86 Robert Emmiyan 8,74 Larry Myricks 8,74 Erick Walder 8,74 Dwight Phillips 8,73 Irving Saladino 8,71 Ivan Pedroso 8,69 Tajay Gayle
  16. Downhill requires natural terrain. Freestyle skiing does not. It's a HUGE difference. China's success in figure skating is simply based off failed gymnasts. They finally found a way how to make them look alright with the skates on.
  17. Pyeongchang courses were horrible already. They botched the artificial snow conditions too when it was freezing mad out there. Beijing games will be flat course, plus temps & artificial snow. This will be the worst one yet IMO!
  18. I've watched every WOG since 1992 so don't question my judgement. Time trials >>> Mass Start. If it wasn't for Johann Olsson nobody would give a damn about making a breakaway.
  19. It's down to money. China can buy every God damn Olympics if they want to and were allowed to. Hell, Doha would host WOG if they could ship snow to the Gulf! I can't possibly wait how horrible the Olympic downhill course will be in Beijing.
  20. What strategy? It's 49 km of hanging back in the pack and 1 km sprint. That's all. I'm sorry but you really haven't watched any 50km time trial events in your life? 50km ain't a monster tbh. Have you heard of the Vasaloppet for instance?
  21. Another TV bullshit, city events with 20 secs. courses. Thanks, I'll pass, It's bad enough Olympic downhill tracks are flat as hell because they award the WOG to some non-traditional venues. I miss the Lillehammer atmosphere with real fans, real courses and Olympic spirit.
