2022 GROUPS

The IIHF Council made a proposal to its membership to play the top-level IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship also in Olympic years, however, to avoid having two big tournaments within just two or three months, the Women’s Worlds in Olympic years would take place in August rather than spring. Click here for more information.

If the proposal will be accepted by the delegates at the 2021 IIHF Semi-Annual Congress in three weeks, the next IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship would take place in August 2022 and the groups based on the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Ranking would look as follows:

A B
:USA United States Japan :JPN
:CAN Canada Czech Republic :CZE
:FIN Finland Germany :GER
:ROC ROC Hungary :HUN
:SUI Switzerland

Denmark :DEN

Same results, as every year(No, I don't want to talk about the 2019 Finals :wall:)...

At least Keisala was selected the Tournaments best goalie, rightfully so. She's gonna replace Räty as a trusted starter soon lol
Our goalie production still is the best in the world

Let's see, what else? Ronja Savolainen is going to be our #1 defenseman soon, because Hiirikoski won't be playing forever. Our quarterfinal hero, Sanni Vanhanen, is going to be a superstar someday.

Next woman to wear C is going to be Michelle Karvinen, my lucky guess :mumble:

Now we have, give or take 5 months, until the Women's Olympic tournament. Only 5 months to figure out how the hell we're going to reach the finals...

    • I think they incorrectly translated Ukrainian word "nahorody" - it is not a full synonym of "medal". Its cocrrect translation is "award". Meanwhile russian tennis playes switched for Potapova ->  Rakhimova ->
    • Ukrainian diver Lyskun switches allegiance to Russia, loses all medals | Olympics News | Al Jazeera   'loses all medals'   I would assume Al Jazeera could have been a bit clearer and mention this would presumably only be national medals. I mean, it's not like the Ukrainian federation, or any single federation for that matter, has the power to strip her of her world and European championships medals I hope (not for her sake, but because that would be a super weird precedent)
    • That's what I'd plan as well (except for MelFest), but I also know I am hypocritical enough to still want to watch the show and have a fun evening
    • Confirmation about the broadcasting rights.   If I'm reading it right, for most of Europe it will now be exclusive to Discovery/Eurosport or whatever brand they use.     For outside Europe, it's on YouTube.
