With 90 qualified and 10 more (4 tennis, 3 golf, 1 judo, 2 swimmer) almost sure of qualifying, so now we can think of 115+ Indian contingent in Rio.  boxers, man archery team, and athletics can take upto 115+. Devendro Singh & Vikas Krishnan along with Marry Kom should get a Rio ticket. May be some more can join them.

Sushil Kumar’s name is missing from the list of probables forwarded to the Indian Olympic Association for the Rio Games in August by the Wrestling Federation of India— the clearest indication yet that the double Olympic medallist may miss the bus this year.

Dutee Chand , one of the medal prospects for India is practicing in Badminton academy of Gopichand in Hyderabad. She is facing mental pressure by unknown persons in the athletic federation and does not practice in NIS patiala which has ideal equipment and infrastructure for someone in athletics.

WFI has tried to play safe here, since any other players had openly indicated that if Sushil gets a chance for trail than they will also demand trail in their respective weight categories. They even talked of going court. To avoid this situation, WFI has not given chance. It will now open a big debate. I think WFI has done a fair thing, if their is trail than it should be for all categories. It has happened in past so many times, when an injury to a great player creates the gateway for other young players, they successfully cash  it and closed the door for former champions.

Dutee to participate in 3 events at China, Taipei and Kazak, starting this month, to gain the Rio timing.

    • sure! in every Italian bedroom you normally have every kind of table, chairs, furniture, tv screen  to me, this really look an unfinished room, you normally don't see such a sad place even when you buy a new house
    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
