What's funny is that it's on the program of the 2026 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which makes perfect sense given it's taking place in indoors at these Games In fact, it's one of three sports, along with Jiu-Jitsu and Teqball that will feature at all three OCA governed multi-sports games this year. Teqball is a little different though, since it is being played on sand at Sanya 2026. -

freestyle wrestling in the USA leads to a possible "pro" wrestling career (and somehow also a MMA career, nowadays), that's why there are so many kids practicing in high schools and colleges without that pathway, there's no chance they would be as good as they are as a side effect, they have a great depth in their system and it's easy to find good, competitive athletes year after year (because the structure of a sport organized within the school system always allows to build new athletes on a regular basis, without having to wait for the Messiah to appear once every while in a gym) -

Italy also has many more judo clubs than wrestling. Our most recent medalists in wrestling were naturalized Cubans: Chamizo and Conyedo. Women's wrestling in Italy is at a very low level. -

I think it has to do with the depth in plenty of other countries, unlike Wrestling, and Judo tournaments systems in Europe and Asia, and the schedule is more dense then wrestling and of course the exposure of it in the Free JudoTV system and broadcasting and advertising and crowd support unlike UWW where it’s barely exists, I mean for my NOC I would have love to see more Wrestlers but again its less common and exposed to the public so you need to know it from your local sports club
