Breaking down the splits on that relay:

Wilm: 59.34

Excellent, but Masse can improve on that.

Dawson: 59.97

Wow! Great performance! I'm not sure they put Knox in given his injury and his performance in the 200 IM. Or maybe he was saving himself. While a great time, it will need to go down a bit to challenge for the podium.

Liendo: 49.85 :yikes:

That's faster than anyone in Paris in this relay (and 3rd fastest in any relay - and both those guys are out of this one).

Douthwright: 54.31

Serviceable for the heats, but will need improvement here. Sucks that Penny isn't here. Ruck? MSH?

With USA, France, and UK all out of the final, Canada has a real shot at a medal here. US and France finished ahead of Canada in Paris, where they placed 5th (UK just behind). China and Italy, and of course Australia, will be challengers, too.

Given Knox's form here, I would say Dawson is the way to go. He's shown he's in good form here with a PB in the 50m + that relay split and it'll be good experience for him.

Ruck will certainly be in given she has no other events today.

Katelyn Fung qualifies for the semis in the Women's 10m diving in 12th. Her scores on her last dive show she can get into the finals.

Where did this Luca Urlando come from to completely dominate this event?

He was posting crazy times as a junior. He dealt with a bunch of injuries and was finally healthy last year.

    • Tentoglou won the men's long jump with 8.22. He only had two valid jumps today.   Another U20NR came in the women's shot put from Maria Rafailidou. She had 16.53 earlier this week and now got 16.59. She's second in the world for U20 this year    So of course Karalis was the big star of our nationals this year, more than Tentoglou, but we also had a lot of teenagers show good signs for the future (Antonatou, Alivizatos, Mitropoulou, Iakovaki, Rafailidou etc).   Antonatou and Alivizatos are both from Kefalonia island. Antonatou's brother is a shot putter who is 19 yo and had a new PB yesterday of 17.92 in the NCAA. I don't remember us ever having any strong athletes from Kefalonia in any sport aside from the late Anna Pollatou who won an Olympic bronze in rhythmic gymnastics. What are they feeding these kids on this island (it only has about 35.000 residents)?! Very impressive.
