unfortunately, Fencing is one of those sports that doesn't guarantee you a wealthy future, even if you're a star player, so many of the Americans have quite a short career when it comes to the senior ranks and not often they win as much as one might think after watching them in the junior competitions as they normally stop practicing as a pro after the end of their college career

That's true. I thought I read one interview with a coach who worked in USA and he said Americans consider fencing just as fitness for kids
