Men's Volleyball FIVB World Championship 2025

Recommended Posts

Belgium played their worst match of the World Champ, but that was to be expected. We haven't played anything special since the match against Ukraine: solid playing with limited errors, better service and blocking. However, if we want to beat Poland, we need a much better attacking efficiency than today: only 47%.

Wasn’t planning on watching this till about 2 minutes ago, but go :CZE ! :cheer:

Nothing against :IRI of course, just would be a bigger storyline seeing the Czechs advance to the medal rounds (it’ll be a big storyline either way)

this is gonna hurt forever , I'm sure I will never forget that 2nd set mistake.

everything was going well until that moment in set 2. Sharifi spiked out a very very easy overpass on 22-20 which could seal the set for Iran and I'm pretty sure it could become an easy 3-0.

this was the golden chance we will probably never have again. and Sharifi threw it away. it will be hard for him to come back from this. fans will make sure he will never forget that.

but that was the coach's duty to somehow recover the team, make them start fresh in the next set but they just never came back from that.

it was a terrible tournament anyway. technically we didn't deserve a top 16 finish but then some weird things happened and all of a sudden we only had to beat a mid level European team to be in the World Championship semifinal....

All we know this place belongs to Brazil (beat 3:0 Czech Republic). But congrats Czech huge achievement

A team that loses 3-0 to the worst Serbia in history doesn't belong in the semifinals.

Okay, there are circumstances: Bernardo's mother passed away just hours before the match, the team captain is an idiot, and there are a lot of newcomers on the team, but it's still unacceptable.

It was enough to win 1 set... Well, but you have the VNL bronze medal, so the season is not completely lost for you.

Of course, it wasn't a complete disaster; most fans were completely disillusioned with this team before the season starts. Our young team is still more talented than most other teams, except for Poland, Italy, France, and Bulgaria. Next season, for example, Arthur Bento, Bergmann, and Darlan will play in the Italian Super League, so they'll have time to develop.

What bothers me are the veterans. Especially Lucarelli. After the elimination, he made a statement, laughing, saying he thought they'd played well despite the loss... After the Czech Republic beat China, he didn't even have the decency to speak out. Our national federation hasn't announced the elimination to this day. I don't agree with acting as if this tournament never happened.

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
    • Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says.  (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)
    • If you have time would love to see a sport by sport overview of the changes/new sports
    • Slowly going through the documents.   Looks like canoe slalom qualifiers will be a bit different. More kayak cross quotas which will let nations to essentially qualify two kayakers.
    • How about we choose either Rome or Milano  I hate this timeline we have entered of multiple host cities / countries. The football World Cup became ludicrous, we don't need the Olympics to join them. At least not more than they already are.
