What outcomes would I need to root for and how likely is it?

So besides winning against  and  (preferably 3-0 or 3-1) our path to the quarters involve:

 >  (Germany winning 3-2 is fine)

 

The above I feel are likely to happen, after that it gets tricky. I believe we need 3/4 below matches to occur for us to qualify.

I'm surprised by the poor performance of Poland's opposites. Fortunately, I think they can still count on Kurek.

This must be the most even VNL ever. One matchday to go and there are like 10 teams on the fence.  Screw FIVB for choosing China and robbing one deserving team of a Finals appearance.. 

 

And it will be in our style to beat Poland, Slovenia and Japan and still don't make the finals. Unbelievable.

Going into the final day, 5/8 spots to the quarterfinals are sealed. The last three spots will be decided between 8 teams. Of the final 9 games, six of them have at least one team trying to qualify while two more have seeding implications. The only truly "dead rubber" match is Argentina vs. Turkey.

Looks like our only chance is depending on Canada. Japan is pretty much qualified and I doubt Cuba will have any trouble with China.

Yes, but unfortunately Kurek is injured and it's unsure if he will play in World Championships, Bieniek recently had surgery and will not play in this national team season too and Śliwka gets injury which exclude him from playing further in this season. Only Huber from currently absent players is possible to play in Worlds.
