Since the program is different relative to 2020, I usually like to compare to which events have been completed in both editions.

Using the current completed events, Canada in 2020 would have had 1G-3S-3B. We are down one medal. Unsurprisingly, swimming is behind. So is judo, but they could go even once the program is completed.

I had us projected for 27-28, and to have five at this point... so, I think having six is just peachy

But isn’t the USA women’s basketball team unbeatable

Just saw this reply, no the US aren’t unbeatable in women’s 3x3 basketball. I could see any of seven teams on the podium (except Azerbaijan), and Azerbaijan isn’t even a bad team, I think they could get a couple of wins.

Overall, a meh day.

Highlight of the day was for sure our women’s rugby sevens team winning a historic first ever silver medal (and best ever finish) for Canada in this sport, beating Australia in the semifinals and losing (barely) to New Zealand in the gold medal match. Other good results were Eric Peters advancing to the round of 16 in men’s archery, including a great win over Bomadareva in a shootout where he shot 7 10s in a row to close out the match, Felix Auger-Aliassime winning his round of 32 match handily against Koepher 6-0, 6-1, women’s 3x3 team demolishing Australia in group stage action (too many fouls though), men’s basketball team defeating Australia 93-83 in group stage action, Illya Kharun’s men’s 200m butterfly heat and semifinal, and Felix Auger-Aliassime/Gaby Dabrowski advancing to the quarterfinals in mixed doubles tennis somewhat (wasn’t very convincing)

As for the disappointments, men’s volleyball team getting swept by France (expected more of an effort from the boys), Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard and Francois Gauthier-Drapeau both losing in the first round of repechage in women’s 63kg/men’s 81kg judo, and Josh Liendo failing to make it into the men’s 100m freestyle final with a terrible time. Hope it’s a bad swim and nothing else.

    • With a week to go till the deadline for the world invitational, the rosters look beefy for the discus on both sides.24 entries for the men[19 accepted in so far] and 25 for the women[18 accepted so far] For the men so far there are three 70 meter throwers[i count Denny as that since it's just 4 centimeters off his pb]10 from mid 66 to low 69,three of 65 and over, four from almost 64 to almost 65.On the women's side the 18 accepted throwers all have a pb of over 60 meters.11 of them have  pbs over 64 plus.of the ones still not there besides Valerie and Yaime who have been marketed so i can only assume they will join, such names as  Sandra Elkasevic,Bin Feng, and jordine van klinken aren't signed up yet, jordine's probably the most likely of them to join in tough feng would be a cool surprise,i somehow don't see Sandra doing this, but it would be awesome if she did.Stahl and ceh aren't in yet on the men's side, ceh has been marketed while stahl hasn't been mentioned at all,[pretty sure stahl will not be there],Lukas[last name is too wild for me to even try] and lawrence okoye aren't there yet either but i'm betting both will be joining in.
    • What a shame. That would have been amazing.
    • It's complete American domination in the women's discus rankings so far this year, they occupy the top 4 slots, and the WORST result of those four was achieved at Ramona .Third place currently belongs to Ciera Jackson who had a huge almost 4 METER pr at the west coast relays on friday-64.42[previous best was 60.77 from march of 2023,and she opened her season a week ago with at that time her second best result ever of 60.14]she also had a 63.66 throw to back this new pb up,and finally with her new personal best she took down the school record that stood for 36 YEARS[Btw Valerie Allman actually competed in Ramona on march 30th but conditions were apparently far from ideal and she fouled four times and her best was a 63.61,i don't doubt that in the event that she competes in the  world intational, the conditions will be perfect,i wouldn't be so bold as to say she wouldl get the world record but for sure i think she could get a new personal best.
