If, as is likely, the Olympic cricket tournament is a 6 or 8 team affair then USA should not be a participant.

Fancy USA taking the place of Bangladesh or Sri Lanka for instance. Cricket is their national sport and their only chance for participating in an Olympic team sport.

I don't think Greece fielded a team in hockey in the Athens Olympics so there is a precedent.

I recall that there was a real argument about GB participating in basketball as they were several levels below the 2nd weakest team.

I doubt that Australia would throw a major tantrum if they were excluded from the Brisbane Games Handball tournament

GB in men's basketball won 1 game by 30 pts (vs China) and lost by 1 pt to the silver medalists Spain. Our women lost all their games but even they were competitive.

Now our handball teams, they *were* outclassed.

The ever consistent :NZL has been knocked out in the first round of ICC Men's T20 WC. They have been runners up a couple of times including 2021 edition and reached semis in most edition. But in an expanded 20 team WC they fail to reach Super 8s

From India's perspective this is good news. New Zealand and Sri Lanka were to be in India's group if they had qualified. These are the only two teams India has never defeated in T20 World Cups

Scotland have still got 2 perfectly reasonable shots. Either Namibia knocking off England (much more likely in a shortened game) or beating Aus tomorrow. Far better for the game if one of those were to happen than a rain decided conclusion.

    • It's hard to believe it was still in this calendar year
    • In last year, we were were happy with Brignone's wins, and today we're excite that della Mea is in the top 10... It's hard to imagine a bigger fall... And Goggia should give up on the giant slalom and focus on the speed events – Vonn isn't wasting time on the giant slalom, but is training for downhill and SG. Goggia last one finished on the podium in the giant slalom in march 2018, and she has no any chance of winning an Olympic medal at the regular competition. It's a waste of time and energy to finish 8th or 9th and risk injury. And we have to accept that without Brignone, we have no chance of winning a medal in the giant slalom in Cortina, and that's it.
    • yeah, just like Anna Trocker earlier Today   I think this is the best way to blow them    they're not ready for the world cup stage yet, but we're so bad right now that our coaches are digging deep
    • Some surprises and fun results so far at this year's Worlds. Like a few minutes ago, when  Harrysson made the 1/8 with another very good performance. Now he plays Jonny Clayton, who this afternoon made a stellar performance in a tough battle with Zonneveld. I don't see an easy match for Clayton, even though on paper he would have wished such an opponent for a 1/8 before the tournament.   Also i'm delighted that my fav Gary Anderson seems to be in good form, though at his age, he is prone to sudden bad matches at any time.
