Just now, phelps said:

@hckošice what a crazy finish of tonight's game in the :SVK Extraliga...:yikes:

but Zvolen...

both teams defenses were on a trip somewhere tonight

From 2-4 it was 5-4 and then 5-6 :d

That goal from the D-zone was also something lol

but another amazing game from Réway, he has still that genius on him, man, if the guy had at least a little more tidiness in his head, he might be one of the best players.

That assist bro !

Quinnipiac wins first-ever national title in overtime thriller

For the first time in program history, Quinnipiac has reached the summit of college hockey, defeating Minnesota 3-2 in overtime to win the 2023 NCAA Division I men’s hockey national championship.

Jacob Quillan scored 10 seconds into overtime, putting home forehand-backhand move off a feed from Sam Lipkin (two assists) to win it.

It’s unreal,” Quillan said. “I mean, the boys put in so much blood, sweat and tears all year. It’s a dream come true, you know. We got it done. We’re gonna celebrate hard tonight.

It was Quillan’s third goal of the Frozen Four after he had two goals against Michigan in the semifinals.

He finished the tournament with five goals and two assists for seven points in four games.

It’s a set play we have,” Quillan said of his goal. “Lipkin finds the middle. I mean [Zach] Metsa made a nice pass, and then [Lipkin] displayed his skill with the backhand sauce. I went back with it to the opposite side and tucked it in.

Collin Graf tied the game as a power play expired with 2:47 remaining in regulation after head coach Rand Pecknold pulled Yaniv Perets (13 saves) for the extra attacker.

Christophe Tellier also scored for the Bobcats (34-4-3), and Zach Metsa had three assists.

It’s just awesome,” QU head coach Rand Pecknold said. “We’re excited. I’m so proud of these guys. Great group. It’s awesome to see all my alums in the stands. I can’t even put it into words. I’m struggling right now.

John Mittelstadt and Jaxon Nelson each scored for the Golden Gophers (29-10-1).

Justen Close made 27 saves.

Tip your hat to Quinnipiac, but we were in the right spot,” Minnesota coach Bob Motzko said. “Turn the puck over for one [goal against]. Second one never should have went in. You know, that was an unfortunate situation right there. So we had a chance."

I mean, I’m crushed. We just have a wonderful group. The love in that room and that group … I’m just crushed for them. For all of us.

Mittelstadt opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game. QU’s Jayden Lee fanned on a breakout pass, and Connor Kurth was right there to pounce on the turnover before sending it out in front where Mittelstadt put it home.

Nelson doubled the lead less than five minutes into the second.

Brock Faber’s shot took a huge bounce off the end boards, and Nelson was right there to put it home.

The Bobcats answered about three minutes later.

Zach Metsa kept the puck in at the blue line before driving down the wall and feeding Tellier in front for a redirect.

The third period was all Quinnipiac before Graf broke through, racking up attacking zone time and outshooting the Gophers, 14-2, in the period.

QU previously reached the title game twice, falling to Yale in 2013 and North Dakota in 2016, the latter was also in Tampa.

I don’t know if it’s really sunk in yet,” Metsa said.

"It’s been a crazy journey for it to be a goal at the beginning of the year and for us to come through … One, I’m happy for all the alums and the guys that came before us that set the foundation that we were able to grow from. … It’s a dream come true.

    • Fewer people do do this sport compared to the 90s, less money is spent on it, etc. In the case of women, at some point this sport was almost abandoned because of the belief that it was impossible to beat Scandinavia ( the times of Norwegian domination with Bjoergen and Johaug at the forefront). Only in the last 2 years has Markus Cramer been hired, who is gradually rebuilding the men's and women's teams. Suffice it to say that the last medalist of the World Championships for Italy in the women's was Arianna Follis in 2011... I will also remind you that in 2022 Pellegrino and de Fabiani trained with the Russian team, because the rest of the Italian team was in such poor shape that they couldn`t train together.
    • Well that is a totally different question  I too have wondered what happened to Italian cross-country and how there is no one coming for so many years. But it shouldn't take away from the sports where progress has been made.
    • Where to Watch guide.  Discovery plus in most of Europe       https://www.ucitrackchampionsleague.com/watch-the-races
    • Appetite grows with eating. Especially since it's not like we develop in every winter sport... For example, 20 years ago we were a powerhouse in cross-country skiing and now we have only 1 Pellegrino (34 age) and a few talented youngsters. And let's remember that our performance in Turin was objectively weak for us: only 11 medals in total. Now, when I hear that we will to win 2O+, some discipline must definitely add medals and also compensate for the losses in cross-country skiing, for example.
    • The problem is that this mixed team has never played together since then. There was talk of personal obstacles. I don't know how it`s now.
    • Well that explains why she is wearing more clothes with every passing day.   Nevertheless that team is still one of the best in the world and is a vast improvement on what Italy was doing 10-20 years ago.
    • Any idea where a full schedule can be found yet? I remember last seasons the website was always godawful in terms of providing that basic kind of information..
    • Constantinis team have made huge improvements since 2022 even if they are not best yet. And Constantini never was world leading in mixed doubles before Beijing olympic either so it is not like she really have lost anything since 2022 either, except not being able to repeat that success.
    • She had health problems yesterday. Nevertheless, after the gold in mixed doubles with Mosaner in 2022, I counted a bit more on her development. I still think that the biggest chance for us in 2026 will be the mixed team, rather than our teams.
    • I don't know who Italy should field for the doubles? Sinner has the greatest individual strength but he probably doesn't train with anyone on the team. Last year Sinner played 2 doubles with Sonego in the Davis Cup (two wins) but this year Sonego isn`t in the squad. On the other hand the Bolelli-Vavassori doubles are well-coordinated, as is the Argentine one, but individually these players don't even mean as much as Sinner's 1 hand. For me the Sinner/Berettini option is possible but the question is: did they train together on last day?
