Table Tennis, men's Team...here I pick :GER Germany, because they're the only team to have won silver twice and because of Timo Boll, most likely the best non-Chinese born player ever...

Table Tennis, women's team...my pick is :JPN Japan because they won silver twice and because they're the only non-Chinese born players to at least really trying to give CHN a scare (even if they aren't even close for now)...

Taekwondo, men's -58kg...maybe I'm biased, but having followed all of his career and his growth up until the top level, I can only pick :ITA Vito Dell'Aquila...his effort in Tokyo was amazing and unstoppable like never before, to say the least...

Athletics, women's Pole Vault...her majesty, the queen of pole vault...:RUS Elena Isinbayeva, who else?

Track Cycling, women's Sprint...here I'm going to pick :FRA Felicia Ballanger because of her amazing career, even if I think that Kristina Vogel could have matched the French woman, if only she wasn't so unlucky...surely she deserve a mention of honor...

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
    • true, but was expecting India to get troubles from Australia, not from New Zealand, and specially not by being bowled out. Makes the group phase interesting though
    • The 4th best team in the world beating the 3rd best team in the world is not a huge surprise though.
    • I’ve been recently introduced by some friends to cricket (or the t20 version of it, at least) and actually liked it so I’m following the World Cup that’s happening during this month
