History was made today as :LTU Justina Vanagaite bagged the first ever WC victory for Lithuania. Sandra Sysojeva came 3rd. These two are becoming heavy hitters.

Not only that this historic victory haven't made it to the headlines, our own equestrian federation haven't acknowledged that at all!

For what it's worth, the video of the winning ride is out there.

A nice improvement all around compared to last year, as should be expected from such a young horse for the level.

Bang, another victory for Vanagaite this time in :SVK Samorin. Freestyle for the WC points is on tomorrow.

Low score for Katinaite-Pranceviciene, but actually quite promising with a number of 7.5s and 8s on the scorecard... Needs to clean it up, but if she does, Lithuania will be the frontrunner for the team qualification for Paris. Feels crazy saying that, but it is very much feasible.

Yet another victory for :LTU Vanagaite today in Samorin, Slovakia. This will bring her total to 77 points.

https://data.fei.org/Ranking/Search.aspx?rankingCode=D_WC&nfGroup=5002

Five more qualifiers left for the Central European League (Tallinn, Budapest, Szilvasvarad, Zakrzow, Motesice). However :MDA Glinka and :LTU Vanagaite have such a huge lead at the moment that they are basically shoe-ins for the Finals in Omaha, Nebraska next year. Someone else would have to basically score four victories in these five remaining events, and that's just... not very likely.

Boy bands never sounded so smart.

:DEN Carina Cassoe Kruth & Danciera win the Western European League opener with a brand new freestyle. Also, that piaffe on the final center-line was the best I have ever seen them do. Way to go!

In fact, Denmark picks up right where they left off at the home World Championships in August. Top 4 sweep today in Vilhelmsbjorg + two more in the Top 9. Sure, it's a home World Cup, but the success is unprecedented. Langehanenberg and Schneider are usually on the podium, or very close to it, at these qualifiers, but today they have been closed out.

Western European League - Stage 1 (Vilhjelmsborg, DEN)

:DEN Carina Cassoe Krueth (Heiline's Danciera) - 85.925%

:DEN Nanna Merrald Rasmussen (Blue Hors St. Schufro) - 82.610%

:DEN Daniel Bachmann Andersen (Zippo M.I.) - 81.330%

Full results...

Cool story regarding Johanna Due Boje. She contested some World Cups but never imagined she would receive a reallocation for the Finals. It was on short notice and her fiance eventually drove the horse's bloodwork to the lab in Germany (8-9 hours drive one way) so she could get all the paperwork for a flight to the USA in time. :d https://www.eurodressage.com/2023/03/16/2023-world-cup-finals-participants-known-entry-list-sprinkled-surprise

First ever WC Finals qualification for Lithuania and Singapore.

Grand Prix is in progress. Zweistra scored 73% and is in fact the only one above 70%.

Still, some fairly clean and fun to watch tests were delivered by the surprise WC finalists (Due Boje, Verwimp, Chew). :yes

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
    • Which I guess is part of why unfortunately 'our' first wild card attempt of the season was rejected last week
    • The next chapter in the Krasnobaeva saga is upon us.   Looks like  Armenia have cut ties with her after only a few weeks. A person from their Federation has said, that they won't continue the relationship, because of her unprofessional and rude attitude towards the coaches and other officials. That includes: - having no respect to the coaches and their advise; - training without any motivation; - stops doing the routine and throws objects without any reason; - just lays on the floor and ignores the music.   When this was escalated with her mother, she mentioned that "Elvira has a strong temper and she was the same in Bulgaria and they tolerated her". Which of course is complete BS. If anyone attempted this shit here, they would be thrown out immediately.   And now  are wanting from her mother to return all finances they gave them, which she is refusing, so they will probably sue them. They will also inform other RG Federations about this situation, so they don't hire them.   My 2 cents on this is most likely Krasnobaeva was happy in BG and was forced out by her mother, so now she is sabotaging the move and be done with it.
    • Honestly Ruka is my favourite World Cup event of the whole season. Everybody is there. Later on there is always someone who skips one weekend or another . Not everybody takes part in Tour de ski. But here everyone shows up.
